The probable return of sanctions has triggered a rapid fall of Iran’s currency, protests by bazaar traders usually loyal to the Islamist rulers, and a public outcry over alleged profiteering.

The plan will offer attractive prices and flexible terms as well as tax holidays for investors who agree to take over some of the 76,000 government projects which are unfinished or idle, Vice-President Eshaq Jahangiri said on state television.

In late December, demonstrations which began over economic hardship spread to more than 80 Iranian cities and towns. At least 25 people died in the unrest, the biggest expression of public discontent in almost a decade.

We are seeing the effects of the North Korean strategy applied to a developed nation. It isn't pretty.

Obama admin officials continue to come out of the woodwork to denounce this strategy and claim the Iranian economy is too strong to collapse under US pressure. They couldn't be more wrong.

It’s extremely mean for President Trump to treat Iran the way he has been.

That’s what happens when the Jewish financiers won’t return your calls . Karma bitches. I hope to live long enough to see all these Iranian gasbags hung from cranes.

Israel and KSA are pushing hard for the US to remove Russian sanctions (the Crimean ones) in exchange for Russia expelling all Iranian forces from Syria (or standing down and letting Israel force them out). Russia hasn't shown a willingness to play ball yet, and obviously sanction relief will basically be a non-starter in the US.

If China is telling Iran they're going to have to slow down crude imports, you have to believe Russia isn't going to give them a penny, just let them wither on the vine and hope the US gets mired in another regime change.

If the US cuts you out of their Swift/BIC system, you are screwed from doing international trade.

You dont have to have alliances/treaties, etc. Just cut off their access if they do business with Iran and they are screwed. Its the beauty of that term "legal tender" of the United States of America.

A good example was given in an interview I saw yesterday. India was trying to get some crude from Iran before the deadline of the sanctions. They arranged the buy, the shipment, but it would still be in transit when the sanctions hit, and no company would insure it.

Perhaps Iran needs to reinvest in its country rather than in terrorists in Syria and Lebanon ... maybe, huh?

fricking mullahs.

Let's hope Trump keeps turning the screws.

Iran collapsing would be an amazing world development.

We need a full on revolution there. A complete and utter annihilation of the leaders of the country.

Why would a new Iranian state favor our interests?

While I agree. You shouldn't exempt Saudi Arabia if were talking about financiers of terrorism.

You mean like what Bush did to Iraq?

I'm not trolling you guys. I'm just pointing out that these tactics NEVER work in the long run. I've been going over Bush senior and juniors track record, and nothing they implemented actually resolved ME tensions.

The only thing Obama officials know about economic policies are how to line their own pockets.

Sure, invest in what...their dream for a World Caliphate.

They'll be on the ropes by the '20 Election, no matter what Obama/Jarret says or does. And the World will be better.
