I did. My own curiosity.

Why would you lie and say it was completely unprompted?

No one thing prompted me to do this. I just wanted to, really. I'm kinda nerdy like that--I enjoy marketing as a subject, and this subject in particular comes up on this board from time to time.

It's just disingenuous. It makes you hard to take seriously.

The whole post is just kinda "golly gee" informal stuff. You don't have to take anything seriously or not. No skin off my nose either way

What about interracial couples in ads piqued your curiosity?

The fact there's not a lot of practical data on it, I suppose. I'll hear it referenced from time to time, but I never really looked into it for myself. Just found it interesting.

Do you think there would be a lot to gain by collecting and analyzing data like you have here? Do you think this data would be valuable to those discussions on the topic that you've seen here?

No idea. People can take it or leave it. This was more about satisfying my own nerdy curiosity, like I said. Maybe some will also find it interesting. Maybe some will wipe their arse with it. All good for me either way.

The OP's point is well taken, television advertising is an important part of our culture, how people are portrayed there tends to drive the culture rather than reflect it.

Honestly I don't think Ad Agencies care too much about demographics anymore. It's about pushing an agenda. Not long ago an American Ad agency wanted a Polish company to use a homosexual family in its ad in Poland. The company basically said that shite dont play here.

My take on commercials at this point is that they seem to want to not offend anyone.

At the end of the day, interracial couples isn’t something that matters to me (or should matter to anyone else for that matter).
With two adults I say focus on being happy and enjoying life, whomever you may be with.

On another note, the rise of women of color and how they are being presented in commercials is quite interesting.

Black women are the authority figure, the wisest in the room, the most successful, and the most celebrated. It is almost as though we are being groomed for someone:
