this is the most blatant lie I have ever seen in my life.
—————————————————————————-
The majority of people in my family and acquaintances of mine that are poor is absolutely because of the choices they made.
In a previous post I mentioned several of my relatives with college degrees that were poor, they all made bad choices ,blew their money, never saved or invested. It wasn’t because of catastrophic events or illnesses.
I had several high earner relatives that blew through money like there was no tomorrow.
I do know one guy whose child developed leukemia and by the time she died they were bankrupt.Very sad situation but I know droves that lived above their means and ended up broke.

The first is likely statistically minuscule.

Thousands of people go bankrupt from illness. 3% of all cancer patients do.

As for the second, people with the initiative and ambition to START A BUSINESS are not likely to be or remain very long "in poverty" just because that business fails.

Yeah because food trucks never get robbed. Large companies don't lay off people in small comunities and a resteraunt that was succesful for it's first 3 years no longer has the clientele to stay open. That doesn't happen. Some people are poor due to their own happening. Most people are poor due to life circumstances and they don't say there forever.

What a fresh take. That video has not been the subject of 45 threads already.

No, you couldn't. You have enough trouble writing a cogent paragraph.

quote:

You know how many people go bankrupt from cancer and other illnessess?

Almost none. That's why people who make good decisions have insurance.
quote:

How about the person who put everything into starting a small business and failed?

Only a moron would do that. You go to a bank and float your idea for a loan. If they refuse it's because your idea is stupid.

quote:

What about the PTSD stricken veteran with one leg and no surving family begging on your local freeway?

I've never seen one. I guess you live in a weird neighborhood. And I have no idea what a surving family is.
quote:

God you are a fricking ignorant one.

I'm making you look like a tard. And the day is young.

In a country with over 300 million people, I would say that is a very small number. Wouldn't you?

quote:

Yeah because food trucks never get robbed.

If a food truck owner becomes poor from being robbed, he/she made some poor decision to be in a place where a robbery will make them poor.

Large companies don't lay off people in small comunities and a resteraunt that was succesful for it's first 3 years no longer has the clientele to stay open.

Yes, it happens and these people won't be poor long unless the DECIDE to do nothing about it.

Feel like we gotta talk about corruption and complacency too. Even if you work hard and get a good education in Louisiana, the state has a way of giving you the middle finger so that someone who knows someone can get your job instead and absolutely suck at it.

Louisiana is just backwards in every way. Nobody is on the leading edge of anything. It's a bunch of good ol boys who are happy to keep things as they are.

we have a lot of cultural problems. most is the underclass culture that's growing bigger every day, but that sort of shite also hurts

our governmental culture of corruption and shakedowns is also utterly terrible

Yeah, that shite just does more to run people OUT of the state than INTO poverty, at least in the way cahoots is suggesting.

i think of it more like a story from Haiti after their earthquake. some GO builds a lake and stocks it with fish, teaches them conservation efforts, etc. as soon as the NGO leaves, they fish all the fish and it's worthless

that's how our government (mainly local and parish-level) sees any outside company that comes to LA

Yes, corruption does run people out but it also keeps people in poverty because they can't compete fairly with the well connected.

Plenty of people are born into poverty in Louisiana and rise out of poverty somewhere else. So that tells me that the state is partly to blame, not the individual

Wrong. thousands of people a year. It's a well-well documented issue. Why are you lying?

Only a moron would do that. You go to a bank and float your idea for a loan. If they refuse it's because your idea is stupid.

It's very clear you are ignorant about the reality for most Americans who did not grow up with a decent start in life. When you're poor no bank is going to give you a fricking loan. God damn what a fricking arrogant, rich, white boy, statenent.

I've never seen one. I guess you live in a weird neighborhood. And I have no idea what a surving family is.

Surviving* like you couldn't have inferred that one. I would assume you never get on freeays in major cities? shite any city with over 100,000 people has homeless, disabled veterans, with no family to take care of them. To deny their existence woild lead one to think you live in a very small town, that happens to be one of the few that isn't in mass poverty, or literaly never leave your home.

quote:

I'm making you look like a tard. And the day is young.
you're making yourself look like an ignorant a-hole who has no idea what he's talking about. Good job.

When you are poorly educated for whatever reason, it is very difficult to understand economics, effective solutions, long-term prosperity over short-term handouts, etc., etc., etc. But when your aggregate political power far exceeds your education, you consistently make even more bad electoral choices, which deepens and perpetuates your economic misery.

Whoa! I gotta admit that's a really witty comeback.

Those people are stupid. That's my point. The one that zipped by your microcephalic head.

I was born into extreme poverty. My dad was a HS dropout and worked all his life as a roughneck. We had a tiny house and very little food. Both me and bro suffered from malnutrition.
It was very easy to get out of poverty. Bro and I made very wise decisions.

Yes, those are the stupid people who made stupid decisions.

Education, without parenting, is often futile.

Quit teaching people that government is daddy, and that poor decisions have no consequences.

my fricking arse. I don't believe you slightly. The fact that you say it's easy indicates how massively full of shite you are.

Nope you're obviously lying just to troll me. Sincerely go frick yourself. If you actually are serious, go donate some time at a homeless shelter, or soup kitchen, and maybe you won't be a fricking moron and believe people are poor cause they're stupid. Jesus Christ may God help you.

While these are all sad cases, they make up a negligible percentage of those in poverty

This is really a dumb and ignorant thing to say. Major illness wrecks more finances than anything. People with great balance sheets and good insurance go bankrupt every year battling things like cancer.
