Higher IQ people will always reproduce at a lower rate on average. They do not need X amount of offspring in order to provide food/income for the family

Historically, higher IQ people produced more offspring because they could support more offspring.
Today, people in LDCs have lots of kids because there is no social security in Nigeria. Your only hope in old age is surviving children to take care of you.
In the US childless couples can have very comfortable retirements if they have been wise with investments. The stupid ones will still be taken care of by the social safety net.
Having children today in a developed society is a 'want' not a 'need.'
