It's because execs have no clue what they are doing.
I’ve seen this kind of stuff play out in real world.
A VP or director paints a very pretty picture with power point slides on how much money will be saved. Everyone pats themselves on the back and loves the accolades they receive.
Later on people figure out that it was all BS, but nobody has the balls to raise the flag and point out the mistake with outsourcing.

I’m convinced the oil companies are not evaluating their cost savings correctly with the big picture. These problems frequently lead to schedule delays and a dozen other accumulated problems that end up being expensive on the back end. This subject makes me quite angry. And I haven’t even gotten into any of the cultural stereotypes.
Because if anyone says anything about it they will be labelled a racist, fired, and unhirable anywhere else because youve been branded as a racist
I'm glad others in this thread see this problem as well, you can tell the replies in this thread are full of people who are fed up with this shite.
I didn't just create this thread today because I had this problem today - its been a problem for years now.
I interviewed with Peacock a few years ago and the guy who interviewed me was an Indian. To this date the worst interview I've ever had. I cussed him out upon leaving the call and then the recruiter contacted me afterward asking me what was the matter and I went on a long winded rant about how the guy who interviewed me was a total douche bag wo purposely was combative and rude and asked ridiculous questions just to disqualify me so he could hire fellow Indians for the role. I'm probably blacklisted from anything NBC Universal Comcast now.
That was 3 years ago. Nothing has changed. It's gotten worse. Other people who I am friends with and/or have worked with in the past going through the same shite.

And pat themselves on the back for being "diverse"
That's what cracks me up. 100% of the IT department at my last job was Indian. Every single one. Tell me how it is diverse if 100% of the department is the same race. Hiring a white guy would have added to the diversity.

Yep. My daughter in DFW with a computer science degree got laid off multiple times. I know McKesson wanted her to train her Indian replacement. She said know.
Not sure how you legislate this but it should be illegal to import someone to displace someone who is already here and gainfully employed.

Yup, Indians are great at that game, India is racist AF.
You do get a lot of 2nd generation though who hate everything about India. They were born here, speak like Cali, and chase white women.
They see themselves as Bros.
A lot are really cool.

The sole purpose of H1B visas is to suppress American wages. Companies should have to pay exorbitant fines to sponsor an employee ($5M/year per employee) through this program or it should be abolished altogether.

The Indians I've worked with in my roles are utter trash co-workers. They are like robots... they can do the menial, repetitive tasks fine, but anything that requires communication, people skills, or problem solving when things go off track... they become totally useless
Without to much detail...my job is oversight of contingent labor in data we have not gotten a project in time or under budget in....I can't remember
We e are almost 2000 in my area and 1400 are contingent (99% India) and of the 600 employee..40% from India. The idea that India is producing amazing code is..a myth. They are better at hiring more India based staff and needing more money. Then getting projects done. There are a few that can kick but but ..10% are amazing. 70 % are meh and the rest worthless

That's not true. When you go through as a business you must pay the prevailing wage for their position. Now some people play games with these titles but H1B visa folks aren't paid significantly less than anyone with same title.
You also have to show they have skills necessary to perform the job in the application. Certs /licensing/education at a minimum. Also there are only like 65k of these approved a year from around the globe. And Indians can only be 5% of they total. It's extremely competitive to get an Indian to America visa.

Not to sound like an American hating a-hole but I have outsourced work to Indians and they are just as talented as Americans but they work 100 times harder than Americans
Maybe that is the case in your industry. Only 1 out of about 40 that I’ve dealt with weren’t worth a damn. They were all lazy bastards that only cared about sleeping and eating.

My daughter who is teaching will be fine. She's really smart and creative. She's also married and her husband has a great job as an engineer in an air conditioning company. They can manage on his salary.
My other daughter is disabled. She has a brain injury. Most people would think she's high functioning autistic. She's not real flexible. She's good with numbers and data. She's great at spotting errors. She can't handle noise. She's not great with conversations.
We are trying to think of a small business that she and her brother could run. Shed be great taking care of the books and making sure things are done.

There simply aren't enough qualified Americans - especially in HVAC, manufacturing, Engineering, and also tech.
I can't believe this is true. This seems like a corporate talking point.

It's only true due to the 4 year degree requirement for many tech jobs.
India graduates like 10x more engineering and sw than we do.
That's partially because its 85% males in those fields, and college debt is a trap.
We have the people, just college is fcked up

You are correct. H1B is a scam. (sorry, no source; not going to dox myself).
TL; DR: A company posts a job opening requiring a lot of experience with a salary that is pennies on the dollar. No qualified professional will work for less than peanuts, so the company fills with an H1B. It’s bullshite. I hope all y’all know by this point that I’m a Trump lady, but my personal biggest disappointment with his first term was backing this H1B scam bullshite.

$225k must have been too low for the specializations and experience they were looking for in a hcol area. I am related to and friends with lots of engineers (mechanical, electrical, civil, petroleum, software, etc). They wouldn’t get out of bed for $225k in a hcol area.

That's about 65K too many. It's long past time for the USA to stop being a jobs program for third world shitholes.
