The better plan would be to fix the tax code to where everyone actually paid taxes. The income tax should be eliminated and instead institute a VAT tax. This way ALL consumers pay taxes at the same rate.

Well lets just frick people even more by forcing them to pay a larger percentage of their already small income via regressive consumption taxes.

You do realize you will just force the government to subsidize poor people with this plan, no?

I know why the government doesn't want this. I don't understand why the citizenry isn't more excited about it.

Every time you post, you demonstrate more and more your total lack of understanding of basic functions of the economy. I'm impressed. Are you intending to parody the left?

I’ll take it a step further and say I’d support $1,000 in taxes = 1 vote. Those that pay the most should have the most say. Just like shareholders in a company.

That’s so dumb so if you rent you can’t vote sounds like communism to me

If you want to vote for board members that direct a company, you have to own a piece of the company. If you don’t, that doesn’t prevent you from buying that company’s products or using its services, but you can’t vote for the leadership of the company.

If there were a very wealthy company that allowed anybody to vote for their leaders, I’d convince large numbers of people to vote for board members who’d send every penny of profit and accumulated wealth to me and everybody else, at the expense of the financial well being of the company. Which is exactly what’s happening to our government.

Exactly.

The only reason to oppose an across the board sales tax is because it takes the power away from the government to pick and choose the winners and losers.

An across the board sales tax would be fair. It would severely reduce tax fraud and give the government a much bigger lever to enforce the tax code because businesses would be held responsible and operate as choke points.

Taxes would work like a thermostat for the budget and economy. As the economy shifts or the budget changes, it would be easy to adjust the straight percentage of the tax.

The stipulation would have to be a constitutional amendment to remove all other forms of taxation. Otherwise we all know the government would just add it to the rest of the portfolio of tax options.

Sales tax would also be an immediate feedback mechanism to tax abuse by the government because as they start raising taxes, sales would go down, limiting the income from the taxes. We all know government hates being limited by reality.

A flat sales tax would penalize the middle class, compared to the rich. The rich spend a much smaller percentage of their income and wealth acquiring taxable goods. So Bezos would probably be in favor of a flat sales tax instead of an income tax.

If this was true, we would already have a flat sales tax.

When you say penalize, you mean make them pay an equivalent amount. Which is why anyone who says "fair share" of taxes should be promptly ignored. The reality is that most of the middle class pays a minimum of taxes comparatively speaking.

Ok fine land owners but go further if you ever received the stimulus you can’t vote. If you are late to pay rent a day no vote.

So I guess you don’t have any argument left so you are just going to be ridiculous.

That assumes that Democrats weren't lying when they say they want to tax the rich. They are lying.

The middle class? Okay, maybe I'm jaundiced in my thinking being in the upper middle class, but a full 40% of my income goes to taxes of one form or another, including state and local property and sales taxes.

Total tax burden counts, when you're talking about shifting from an income based federal tax to a federal sales tax.

Nope it’s almost as ridiculous as needing to own land to vote. If you ever got divorced no vote bc if you can’t keep a marriage you are irresponsible and can’t be trusted to vote

Great, why are you replying to me? I have never once said I thought property owners should only be allowed to vote.

So when you don’t have an argument you muck up the conversation with juvenile examples

I'm more of a proponent of a five question idiot test that consists of a pool of questions ranging from basic civics to current political topics......you only need two correct answers so it would take an idiot to fail. It will never happen because Dim voters are the most uniformed/misinformed people walking the earth.

We don't have a flat tax and you're saying that we would all pay more if we went to flat tax. So why don't we have a flat tax?

Look, I hate to be crass, but the upper middle class are the ones pushing for higher taxes.

They're the ones who use government to pay off their business buddies with state and local taxes. The rich and ultra rich are more involved in policy. If you have a problem with state and local taxes, it's the country club blue voters doing it to you.

Again, you are trying to have an argument with me about something I never said. You are either a troll or an idiot at this point.

Never mind, just looked at your post history, definitely both. Have a great rest of your day.
