Only land owners should vote. Everyone else is just grazing here.

But your idea is better than status quo

Not sure where the specifics lie BUT I’d only let folks vote who had an interest in this country of some sort. By definition we don’t need voters who have no vested interest in the well being of our nation. Maybe it could be set up to have a host of interests to pick from such as military service, to tax filers, etc...but if you vote, you need to have some skin in the game so to say, even if it is less than others.

Would you be open to only letting those vote who submitted their income tax paper work the prior year?

Can we start with making sure my vote didn't get switched accidentally on purpose to the other candidate? Then we can look at the other luxuries like who is eligible and what not!

What about retirees?

We will institute carousel. There will be no retirees.

The very idea that people can and do vote for taxes others have to pay should rattle you to the core.

For for anything stemming from property taxes, voting should be limited to those that would pay it...property owners

if I were drafting a constitution, I would find that to be a reasonable requirement. Under our existing constitution, it is not acceptable.

Everyone, even renters indirectly via rents, pays for the property taxes.

Just because the landlord writes the check, his tenant funded that payment via rents.

Don't get too comfortable on your high horse there.

Not those in government provided housing.

I would also argue that you're not paying taxes when you rent. You're paying for the use of my property.

Then the government turns around and charges me rent on my property.

Lots of people whom file taxes don't vote.

I like the premise though.

It is fascinating how much this board hates poor people who have zero power in society. When the reality is the elites and the uber wealthy are fricking you way more. But then I remember this board is filled with temporarily embarrassed billionaires who haven't worked quite hard enough yet to make it.

Semantics dude -- the renters are funding the property taxes and the mortgage payment. Whatever mental gymnastics you have to do to sleep better at night.

Cool. If you don't like it go live somewhere else; taxes fund the common infrastructure and utility systems that allow you to make money renting your property dude. It's a very simple concept.

Taxes suck and the way they are being weaponized and used to punsih by certain factions today is cringe but taxes are necessary.

This is where us conservatives set ourselves up to be called hypocritical. I don't want to be like the other side. Everything they do and say is hypocritical, and I don't like being a hypocrite.

"No rights shall be infringed upon" right?

How you gonna take away a citizen's right to vote based on tax liability while saying no rights shall be infringed upon?

Convicts fall in the same boat. Their voting rights and 2A rights are infringed upon.

BUT NO RIGHTS SHALL BE INFRINGED UPON.

I want to want this, but it's not right. The highly partisan bullshite going on these days makes me want this even more, but we probably shouldn't.

But we have to admit, this goes against our core beliefs.

Facts imply no animus. It's fascinating to me how much lefties can't differentiate that.

Coming from the people who also want to tax the income I make on my property, it's really not.

Or change the law. I can do that too. How quickly you move from "Why do you hate those poor people who don't pay taxes." to "Give me, it's mine!"

Its a really broad stroke to paint, but only producers should vote. Someone who's never put anything in the pot shouldn't determine how much they get out of the potm

What about my mom? She's always been a homemaker, never paid taxes. She doesn't get to vote in this system?
