No question this is what Bill Gates did. Somehow, he's considered a genius? Give me break. He won the IBM lottery.

Gates got into the PC business because IBM's mainframe and mini-computer business thought Gate's software OS would never pose a threat to their main businesses. It was more of a testimony to their lack of respect for the young Gates and combined with his connections through family as I understand it.

Gates didn't invent anything. Many manufacturers developed the hardware while MS slowly evolved the OS. The IBM mainframe and mini people were wrong, because I have probably got more power on my desktop today than all of IBM combined 30 years ago and it cost $2,300.

Gates ripped off CPM, Control Program for Microcomputers. I don't remember who wrote CPM, but I remember seeing MSDOS and saying WTF, this sure looks familiar.

Had to look that up, but sounds about right.

Although it was considered a pioneer in operating systems for general computers, CP/M gained much hype when its parent organization declined IBM’s proposal to license the OS for IBM PCs.

I did not know this.

That has to be one of the dumbest business decisions of all time. Wow!

While i do think the cartoony villain stuff is stupid, he’s hyper liberal, supports a lot of things contrary to this board’s groupthink, promotes a lot of globalism at America’s expense, and has some pretty troubling statements about population control.

Also the PoS praised China for how they handled the pandemic and criticized the US. Not that Trump has been perfect but China is absolutely to blame for where we’re at.

So cartoon super villain? no.
Globalist a-hole? Absolutely.

I certainly don’t agree with many of his political views, but the fact is that he has donated more time and money to humanitarian causes than literally any other human who has ever lived. He has directly saved or extended, at a minimum, hundreds of thousands of human lives in his life.

To argue he has been a net negative to humanity is the height of absurdity.
