Spending all your time and money on yourself is the definition of selfish.
There are other people in the world to spend your time and money on besides children.
The notion that someone not wanting to have children makes them selfish is ridiculous.

Thats basically our only purpose on earth.

No it’s most definitely not.
Every adult I know without kids is the most selfish and self absorbed adult I know.

So because you're a bad judge of character when it comes to choosing your friends, every single non-parent on the planet is a selfish arse hole?
Aight bruh

You seem to be taking this very personally.

Well at least they aren’t reproducing.

That's the way I look at it. If you don't want kids, please don't have kids.

Same but I think that’s to be expected. If your whole world/life revolved around you, you’re bound to be selfish and self-absorbed.

Exactly. I didn’t really think it was that provocative a statement. Seemed like common sense to me.

I stand corrected. Close enough for this discussion, though, don't you think?

I agree that per se that's not necessarily selfish (it depends on why they aren't having children), I will say that having children is the natural mechanism that teaches the vast, vast majority of people that the world doesn't revolve around them.
Not the only way that can be discovered, of course, but it's a very big developmental stage IMO.

Not at all. I'm open to having children.
I just find it highly arrogant and condescending for parents to think individuals who don't want to have children are somehow lesser people.

They are. Literally. Whatever your beliefs, their line ends and mine continues.

You will or you will not. Economic conditions or climate change will have nothing to do with it.

Yes, Gen X was a generation of totally awful parents. Maybe worst ever. People with children born between ~1996ish and 2006 or so did a completely horrendous job at the societal level.
What’s worse is that it was obvious while it was happening.

I think whats arrogant and condescending is for people to think they can shrug off a biological necessity like reproduction and think you will be as satisfied with your existence as you are supposed to be. Whats arrogant and condescending is to think you are somehow above fulfilling a biological requirement that is the basic driver of literally every organism on earth. T

You are a lesser person if that is your choice. Having children is literally the only reason you exist. It’s your body’s only actual purpose.

I'm about to step into a pile on this one, but I don't think Mother Theresa was selfish or a lesser person because she didn't have children.
Like I said above, it depends on what your reasons are.
