I read The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich around the time of the 2012 election. It was shocking even then how the Democrat playbook parallels the Nazi one. It really is an interesting book and a great read, and even though it looks daunting, I found it interesting enough to finish within a month.

I have no doubt that there were leftist agitators there but a lot of the people on this site just need to own it. There were people decked out in Trump gear parading around inside the Cap. Babbit was a through and through Trump supporter. Denying that is like the leftists blaming the floyd riots on "White supremacists."

Exactly. No different. Also the same as saying the police started the violence when that isn't true. The Leftists constantly excuse their violence on infiltrators. If the Proud Boys show up to an Antifa event, they get all the blame for the violence. Just own it.

I had this same thought the very day it happened but I’m sure this thread has been started 100 times. Anyone who knows anything about history should have thought about that parallel

ETA I’m not saying it was equal in magnitude or how sinister it was, because trump tards by and large actually did it and willingly handed them ammo over, just saying that the opposition is milking the shite out of it ala the reichstag burning

Thanks

BTW if anyone is looking for a great podcast, Mike Duncan’s revolutions is damn good.

He covers everything from the English Civil War to the Russian Revolution. There are so many recurring themes and he gives a ton of great background.

He talks about the Political Question and the Social Question as the driving forces for revolution.

Tons of camera footage unlike the Reichstag Fire.

Because the ratio of "reporters" to rowdies was about 6:1, unlike the Reichstag fire.

Please concede this couldn't have been an "insurrection" if none of the folks were armed.

This was, actually, a mostly peaceful demonstration that got a little rowdy, Capitol police very incompetently (at best) went from facilitating the intrusion to overreacting to unarmed citizens being rowdy and the press decided to run with it like it was the worst thing since the Boston massacre.

If anything the protesters were the patriots and the Capitol police were the redcoats if that is the comparison.

All that we are currently witnessing has been carefully "orchestrated" by a party consumed with greed and bent on a power grab to maintain a hold on the American people/government. Make no mistake about it, January 6th was a staged event to further discredit any legitimacy to claims of voter fraud. With the passing of the latest so called relief bill, the proposed changes to our voting system, the eroding away of our 1st amendment rights and gun rights, we will no longer be a "free" people. We will like the Germans before us, be at the mercy of politicians who have no real concern for our welfare and whose true desires will only be for the continuity of their "stranglehold" on the American government.

It's pretty obvious it was the Nazis in hindsight.

Just super convenient for the Nazis for me to think otherwise.

Not how valid critical thinking works.
