You gotta learn how to use some mental jiu-jitsu when that comes around. If you don't respond as if you are guilty, and just slide past it, there's a decent chance that you can have an honest discussion based on facts and reason.
If you know how to argue with women, you know how to argue with liberals.

It's a matter of sussing out who is a true believer (unreachable) and those who repeat the same old shite because that is what is regarded as high-status belief/virtuous. There's all kinds of crazy shite you can get a self-described progressive to admit if you are patient and Socratic.

I love with Socratic method. But what I've learned is that generally speaking even if you get a liberal to admit something it has Zero Effect beyond that extremely narrow point. And it also has very little sticking power

Plenty of conservatives are lukewarm about Trump and will raise questions about government, racism, environmental issues, etc. that aren't in lockstep with the current GOP/Trump talking points.
There are no leftists like this. None at all. Fine .01%, but the real answer is none.
