Illinois officer resigns after not helping woman wearing Puerto Rico shirt

An Illinois police officer resigned after facing public criticism for not helping a woman who was harassed for wearing a Puerto Rico flag shirt.
A now-viral video showed Officer Patrick Connor failing to intervene when a man identified as Timothy G. Trybus began to harass 24-year-old Mia Irizarry, calling her un-American for wearing a Puerto Rico shirt.
“Effective today, Officer Patrick Connor no longer serves in the police department of the Forest Preserves of Cook County,” the agency tweeted on Wednesday. “He resigned late today. But that isn’t where our works ends.” LINK

The attention given to this case compared to the other examples where MAGA supporters were harassed is nauseating.
That said, officer probably should have stepped in and told the guy that he made his point and he should move on.

When he went up close to her he should have been at the very least warned. She felt threatened and rightfully so. The guy seemed batshit, and the cop should have done something.

The guy was out of his mind. He was aggressive, kept approaching her, getting close to her, etc. It happened in an area that she had rented, and where he was uninvited and asked to leave.
The cop deserves to lose his job. Hell, any man on his board worth his salt would have intervened had they seen this at their local grocery store. It's inexcusable for an officer of the law to sit this one out.

I left my trailerhood (trailorhood?) for a vacation in San Juan, PR and while the land/beaches were great, it was mostly a trash heap filled with homeless people who will constantly accost you. The only things worth seeing that are man-made were built by Spaniards hundreds of years ago.
