Ilhan Omar’s Attack on Venezuela Special Envoy Echoes Al-Jazeera and Soviet Union

Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-MN) attacked Special Envoy on Venezuela Elliott Abrams in a House Foreign Affairs Committee session on Wednesday, accusing him of genocidal culpability for a “massacre” in 1980s El Salvador during which “more than 800 civilians, including children as young as two years old, were brutally murdered by U.S.-trained troops.”
Her tirade was suspiciously similar to an article about El Salvador published the previous day by the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera news network.

Abrams sucks and Omar sucks. I have no idea how people support Abrams, a member of the very swamp people want to drain. I imagine he got much more popular just because of Omar's line of questioning.

recycling this... is there any connection between the Iran-Cortra Affair and Corch Irving Meyer?
Is Ilhan Omar related to Corrine Brown?

We support Abrams because he is absolutely correct about El Salvador.

She was probably more upset to learn that the victims weren't Jews, the witch.

As they have feminized their party, they have chosen the worst and most vile women. These are some nasty and objectively ignorant people. I mean, they are absolutely proud of their stupidity, having been told their whole lives that their race and gender makes them special and above the fray.

I have no opinion on Omar. I know nothing about them.
Elliott is a repugnant toad though, and a moron.
People usually gain a measure of wisdom with age. Abrams appear to be an exception. He’s still fighting the Cold War, he’s going to get those commies. He’s also going to get Iran. And Venezuela. And a number of other countries to be named at a later date.
He’s exactly the kind of person Trump campaigned against. And that makes the situation doubly sad.
You’ve got these mental midgets, people like Elliott and Pompeo, who want to diffuse our power all over the globe, in pointless fights, that do not serve any immediate national interest. These fights will simply make us poorer, and weaker. And if I we lose, which is more than likely in a place like Venezuela, it will diminish our credibility.
The Russians, their bête noire, do the opposite. They intervene only when it is truly important to Russia (they are a poor country) and they choose the least expensive, yet effective, intervention. And they’re absolutely ruthless about that.
They also go out of their way to avoid disruptive changes, seeking to preserve the status quo.
We should do the same.

He was not correct about El Salvador at the time. The day after the El Mozote massacre, he called reports of it propaganda by anti-government guerrillas. He lied time and again, like in 1985 when he claimed that the State Dept. had conducted an investigation into two more massacres in El Salvador, and found no involvement of US-trained groups, yet the State Dept. had done no investigation. Abrams had a pattern of behavior that was so egregious that Admiral Crowe, chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, called him reckless in an open letter to the NYT.
Again, people will defend him for some reason, but he's the very type of person who should be shut out of the foreign policy establishment. Unless you support more American interventions that go terribly wrong. Isn't anyone tired of the same old script?

It's not about "supporting" him. It is about common decency.
These leftist assholes treat anybody Republican like that.

Absolutely. It's unfortunate that Omar was the one to question him, as there are valid concerns about his previous record as Assistant Secretary.

During that massacre, some of those troops bragged about raping 12-year-old girls before they killed them,” she added.
These were US TRAINED troops, not US troops carrying out these actions.
she fails to separate the two.
The fabulous achievement was establishing a free election and democracy.
Yet, she smeared this man and accused US policy/troops to killing children and raping a young girl and wanted a YES/NO answer.
These types of actions, statements need to be called out and blasted.
This new line of questioning by Dems has run it's course. They are trying so hard to paint a picture, using the Gowdy tactic (questioning of comey about Hillary) wanting YES/NO answers. but they fail bc they give 2 min long questions, that require a ton of context but only want 1 word answers and when they try to explain the complex questions answer, they invoke TIME.
If you want a YES/NO answer, ask a YES/NO question.

Not defending abrams necessarily, but how culpable is a government over foreign troops they only trained?

Congrats libtards. You have the privilege of having the first member of ISIS in your camp.

Oh what a bunch of hyperbolic garbage. Abrams may be a swamp animal, but he was right then about El Salvador and he is right now about Venezuela. Supporting free elections and Duarte ( who was challenged from his left and right) was the right move in 1984 and they have had a functioning democracy since that time. That’s my point.

That's a legitimate question that is difficult to answer, and one I wish someone on the FR Com. actually asked. We are never prepared to deal with the fallout of such support, as our adventures in the ME make clear.
