t's not my argument, Slo. It's the state of Oregon's argument.

and are you supporting or criticizing that law?

i understand it's a law

Jim Crow was also law. i have no problems saying those laws were terrible, same as the law involved in the "bakery" cases

Rob, I know it was law but it was also unconstitutional

You missed the point. I do not support legally mandated discrimination

Jim Crow was that

I said there's no valid argument for legally preventing private discrimination

I realize this board hates inconvenient facts and their messengers, though.

I appreciate you Terry. I don't think you really care about who serves or doesn't serve someone? But there are some state laws that cover discriminating against/ not serving someone in restaurants over political, racial or sexual orientation.

I don't think you should have to serve anyone you don't want to serve. But I also believe the end of Jim Crow was a good thing. There are some today, even on this board that believe you shouldn't have to serve a black man if you don't want to. This is the problem a lot of us are running into, but now a days you can help tarnish a business with reviews and protest etc..

You are actually one of the few voices of reason on this board. You don't get enough credit for being a quality poster.

Completely agree.

One is protected under the constitution. The other isn't. Pretty ridiculous to compare the two.

The white supremacists should get a lawyer if they think they have legal justification. Have they?

Btw, if the bakery had any nads they would post a sign in the window "We don't serve gays"

Care to guess why they don't?

Not serving or baking for someone who that's gay is bigoted.
Or in adherence to someone's religious beliefs. I noticed that muslims have never been targeted by these obviously organized "civil rights crimes."

I'm not confused, I don't think you should have to serve everyone for strictly the fact that some folks are assholes etc.. Now, the problem with that is our past where race was used to segregate a population so it's not that simple.

What happens when this race won't serve another because of their race Muslims to Jews or Whites to black or serve to police officers?

So it should be okay to refuse service for the reasons you think, but not necessarily for reasons other people may have?

Those people go somewhere else. And either that establishment flourishes or fails because of their decision.
