There’s really no pretending you “were above it all” and you didn’t like “any of em.” I mean, I guess you can pretend, but that’s all it is - make believe.

It was truly a “binary” choice between some normalcy and utter disaster. There was no third box, whether you like it or not. Good job.

Sure. That was a disaster. What we are seeing nationally now, however, is a disaster of epic proportions.

and no one can pretend that we "didnt know". High fuel prices, open borders, kids in cages, and printing money were staples of the Obama administration

Certainly, any who desire more libertarianism over less did.

Ever notice how those people always attacked Trump exclusively?

I understand your point and I am very sympathetic to your argument. Yet here is my obligatory “Butt Monkey” response:

I love Trump and celebrated his 2016 election as a great win for Liberty in this nation — perhaps not so much the man but the phenomenon of Trump and the ideas he so crudely —yet so ably — articulated. If not the best President of my lifetime, Trump certainly is the most honest.

But what the past four years — and especially the past 12 months — have demonstrated beyond a shadow of a doubt is that a vote in this UniParty® charade is a vote for the left or right wing of the Deep State. Indeed, the biggest con perpetuated by the UniParty® is the absurd notion that if we would just send the right slate of electors to the Swamp, the Republic will be saved.

It is an absurd fantasy and pure propaganda that could have been lifted straight out of the pages of 1984. It no longer is “Morning in America.”

If Liberty is to continue in this nation, it will be because of secession and nullification movements at the State level. The Potomac Cesspool can no more be “reformed” than a malignant cancer.

The current crisis continues until enough true supporters of limited government come to this inescapable conclusion. It is what it is.

I never bought into the whole Cult of Personality surrounding Trump like some did; however, from a purely policy perspective, he's been the best President of my lifetime by far.

I'm not sure we disagree at heart, buttmonkeys notwithstanding.

My fear with regard to what you're getting at, however, is I think there is a fine line between reaching a boiling point that actually wakes good people from their slumber and a point of no return.

I’m afraid that reaching a boiling point is what it will take — the problem is we are the frogs being boiled. In any event, I think things are going to get much worse before they get better.

My main point above is the two political parties differ only in style, not substance. Both parties believe — to varying degrees — in perpetual Empire, unlimited bailouts and an ever-expanding welfare state that is funded by our print-on-demand monetary system.

Trump was certainly less belligerent than any President since Ronald Reagan but he really had no means of making systematic changes to the existing power structure. I liked Trump because he had enemies in all the right places yet Trump’s idea of draining the Swamp was simply filling it with Swamp critters of his own choosing.

This was perhaps his greatest failing as President.

This has been said every 4 years for the last 50 years, and, well, here we find ourselves.

Indeed. He solved real problems with efficiency which is something extremely rare in the DC Swamp.

I mean, a guy got elected and tried to shake things up some and all you did was snipe about him because he wasn't some sort of complete philosophical ideal. How many years should we keep hoping that unicorn comes along or even thinking it might instead? Moving incrementally beats not moving at all, and certainly beats plunging off a cliff - and here we find ourselves.
