we wouldn't be in the situation we are in right now if Ron Paul didn't get railroaded by Fox news

wow. pot meet kettle

at least 99%

That sounds exactly like something Ray Epps would say.

In any case, the idea that anyone who doesn't do what you're doing "can't complain" is just stupid.

It’s certainly not very libertarian.

haha ok I'll concede that was dumb
have a good day everyone, i don't care who you vote for as long as you have a reason for doing it

Here the deal. First, you are correct. An absurd amount of DC is compromised, left and right. HOWEVER
1. There is literally nothing preventing that from happening to someone who is not a Dem or Repub. Because the compromising almost always happens as they become viable. I mean hell, if I go run as a Repub tomorrow and due to no name recognition, I'm getting like 2% of the vote, no one is wasting time "compromising" me
THEREFORE
2. Your belief that you are avoiding this problem by voting 3rd party is a silly belief. You're probably right that they aren't compromised. They aren't compromised because no one has wasted their time trying to.
When we vote, none of us individually are going to cause a watershed in politics. We are simply voting to try and tilt things the way we'd like.
And, sorry, your 99% number is silly. While outnumbered, there are certainly people of conscience that still make it to DC(this doesn't mean their ideas are good)
Hence, even though my chances are small, when I vote, my odds of actually affecting things positively are exponentially greater than yours. Frankly, your vote is more about you than anything else.

ok but once we elect someone who isn't either of those parties it will open up options for others to not join those parties.

voting to get rid of this system would be the same thing. you would have current republicans finally free to vote for things they like rather than having to play party politics to do anything at all.

Your concern is that these people get compromised once in DC. Getting compromised doesn't require a letter by your name. These 3rd party people are no more immune to it than anyone else.

Let's say 30 independents get voted into the House.
Those independents are still going to have ideas that primarily lean left or right. They aren't going to be Aliens. How do you see this functioning in your mind?

it will be more visible who is voting for corporate interests and kick them out. they wont be able to hide behind the party line vote.

First off, YOU can't even define which votes are based on "corporate interests". You may ASSUME certain votes to be for that reason, but you have no way of knowing.
You could ask me right now how I'd vote on 10 different issues and probably conclude I'm "compromised" based on at least 6 of them from your perspective.

Go peddle your absurdity somewhere else. The democrats are the enemy of the people. Not the Republicans. Evidence of this? Ridiculous democrat anti-law enforcement policies that contributed to the burning down of our cities. Small businessmen and women brutally beaten and harassed trying to protect their business. An out-of-control hyperinflation rate that destroyed the wage gains of workers during the Trump administration. Destruction of our energy independence. We went from energy independence to Creepy Crooked Joe Biden pleading with the Saudi's to increase oil production. Don't even get me started on the resurging Covid epidemic. A Covid Epidemic this fraud Joe Biden promised to end.
Like I said go peddle your absurdity somewhere else. The democrats are the enemy of America. I agree some Republicans (Romney, Cheney) may be RINOS but IMO a majority of the Repulicans in Congress are legit.
There's your boy democrats. The leader of the free world.
