If you publicly speak out against the government and someone later gets hurt - you’re done

Think about that for a second

Trump gave a SPEECH

before, and during which, the “siege” occurred - so Trump is to blame

With that logic - ANYONE who speaks against the government is breaking the law because the government can loosely tie ANY violence to your words

We are in dangerous times

It will definitely be interesting going forward to see who gets the label "domestic terrorist" or "insurgent".

If a couple of Russian Facebook posts can be deemed “election interference”

Then ANY form of online communication could later be tied to violence making you culpable in the government’s eyes

Media PR pushes are one thing. A real court will not determine Trump's words to be "incitement."

If legal action is allowed to be spurred by mere creative interpretation of someone's words, the legal system is useless.

Rand basically said the same thing on the Senate floor yesterday.

From VP Whore:

quote:

"That's right," Harris replied. "But they're not gonna stop. They're not gonna stop, and this is a movement, I'm telling you."

"They're not gonna stop, and everyone beware, because they're not gonna stop," she added. "They're not gonna stop before Election Day in November, and they're not gonna stop after Election Day."

"Everyone should take note of that, on both levels, that they're not going to let up — and they should not. And we should not," she concluded.

Hmmm, let's say this policy was in effect in the 1860s.
Six months prior to Lincoln getting assassinated how many people in America said in a bar or restaurant "I wish Lincoln was dead"?

That's probably gonna result in 10,000 arrests minimum.

Agreed. He left out the part of trump’s speech where he told anyone who would be protesting to do it peacefully. Was that what you’re referring to?

Nothing happened to Trump. It was all smoke and mirrors. And nothing will happen to you.

Enough with the fearmongering.

You can't trust the courts on anything, unless you have big money. It really has always been this way, unfortunately.

It's called "New Law", and I've posted about this before.

Once, passing through Tiananmen Square in Beijing with a Chinese acquaintance, I said; "wow, this is where the famous video was taken of the protester in front of the tank!". The awkward silence from him and the cab driver that followed was so thick, I became slightly afraid that I might end up in trouble - or worse, get my friend in trouble. He gently and discreetly reminded me that these things are not to be talked about, and we drove on.

Coming to a town near you, America!

agreed. facts like the capitol police and IC knew this type of violence could potentially happen because it was pre planned. Facts like court documents that reveal this was planned prior to Trump's speech. Facts like Trump specifically asking followers to make their way to the capitol "peacefully". Facts like how Capitol Police tried to warn the rank and file in DC about a potential attack and they ignored it so they could proceed with another farce impeachment. Yep. facts

It's a extremely strained analogy. I don't think Trump is legally/criminally liable (morally yes), but the difference between someone criticizing government and something happening and organizing a stop the steal reality, the chatter across the interwebs ahead of time is pretty significant. Basically, it's moronic fear mongering.
