The South used tariffs to justify secession. South Carolina tried to secede over them during Jacksons reign.

So are you on the side of freedom or slavery and the Confederacy?

The South also used the government to institute and implement slavery. And taxes to fund it. Then the government used welfare as a weapon to destroy the black family unit and crush the middle class. If you support taxes or welfare or the government, you support slavery.

The South also used all sorts of criminal laws to ensure slavery was protected, so I guess if you support criminal laws you support slavery, too.
