You’re doing better than at least 50% of the country.

Just my luck I am finally starting to roll in some decent interest and the banking system goes to hell. Can’t win

I truly hope these are two isolated events and it isn’t an omen

Yeah, I don't see it happening.

Buddy of mine in Mississippi banking says that Citi has been eyeing Regions for a while.
If they can pull Regions's nails-on-a-chalkboard radio spots off the air, I'm all for it. Even better if they can torture the shite out of everyone involved.

I know nothing about credit unions other than that it seems they attract lower-credit-type people and there's always a police vehicle stationed there. I've heard that people who have trouble opening a bank account have less trouble with a CU. I've never had trouble with banks so never used 'em.

Looks dubious. Is there a source for the charts?

Like every other fear-mongering thread that ever exists here the source is

Overblown. SVB failed because of their massive purchases of Mortgage-backed Securities. Signature Bank because of their heavy investments in Crypto.

Signature did not have a heavy exposure in crypto. I have no clue where that rumor came from.

SVB failed because it had a bank run. Full stop. Without that it would have been fine.

KNow before you speak: NYT - Regulators close crypto-focused Signature Bank

NYT - Signature Bank's Collapse fueled by Crypto bets and Run on Deposits

For SVB - why don't you do a little research to determine what symptom caused the effect?

I had more than the FDIC insured amount in a bank in California. Had to move a large amount this morning to another bank so that both accounts are just under the 250k. At least if something happens, they're covered by FDIC.

I have plenty of cash on hand though.
