what will be the reaction by the American people and markets?

30 million is like having NY, LA, Chicago and Houston and Dallas all out of work. I mean dang, we have 160 million jobs to start with...that's a massive percentage loss

That's going to be one heck of a wake up call...

if true, every single piece of garbage the Democrats tried to add in the stimulus bill to "fit their vision for America" should be replayed in a loop until the election

Markets are going to tank, even though the number is expected.

3.3 million is the # that is out from last week. Which while its a lot most sane economist predicted 3-4 million so right in the range.

Only the stupid are going to give up a job for a few extra $$ in the short term. When that expires all the good jobs will be filled. Also, I wonder if they will loose the money if they dont go back to their jobs when it opens back up.

Unfortunately that number represents the beginning. Major furloughs/terminations really started in earnest just a couple of weeks ago. Many more have been furloughed/terminated in the last week and many more will be over the next couple of weeks so that number is going to grow.

this was just for last week. A lot of states (I know AL & NC) were telling people to apply for unemployment, if their job was closed, not necessary fired.

This was from the phase 2 packaged that was past.

while it might go up some I dont see 30 mil

1 million old/sick people dead is a far less destructive outcome than 30 million unemployed.

Get mad about it if you want, it's the truth.

Turn the country back on full steam and everyone take common sense precautions. If you're old/sick we're not going to FK over the entire country to keep you going a little while longer.

LA is telling people to apply for unemployment if their hours were reduced.

What if I told it didn't matter as the vast majority are going to get this anyway.

This has been a worthless exercise no matter anyone's opinion on what is more important.
