If Iran controls the strait, why has Kharg Island shipping completely stopped?

For the last three days no loading of oil. Those wells gonna be "former" wells soon.
Course they do have domestic consumption to keep them flowing, well they would have if that capacity had not been significantly damaged and they cant get supplies through the embargo to fix them.....even if they had money to pay for them.

Just like oil is finding other routes outside of Hormuz over time, Iran too is finding other ways to resupply over time and negate our blockade.
Oil sales only made up ~10% of their revenue.
Unless we start bombing overland transports at Irans borders, our blockade impact will lose some effectiveness over time.

Define control. If it means being able to stop or interrupt shipping then I guess they do control it. But then so do we. Let’s just take them out of the oil business and see how they do.

Its 25-30 % of their budget, far more than that now since it was foreign currency and not the rial which has lost half its value.
Kharg is shutdown because they cant ship it anywhere. Their entire industry was based on tankers, they dont have a rail system, tankers, to handle any volume over land. And much of that road and rail off the port was destroyed.

I’d seen the 10% number on Fox multiple times. Looks like it might be GDP.
Point being they will adjust over time to mitigate impact. I’m not confident a sustained blockade will significantly change the Iranian calculus.

Not much is going out overland. The Caspian Sea ports have seen an uptick of 118% in exports over the last few months and are shipping 24 hours a day. Even this though has only made up for about 10% of the revenue Iran has lost in the Strait. Not enough to run a country but the issue is it may be enough to keep the IRGC and Regime comfortable enough to continue dragging this thing out for quite some time.
