There’s plenty of “science” proposing genes tied to homosexuality (SLITRK6, Xq28). It’s about as “evident” as those genes tied to schizophrenia. You cannot predict schizophrenia or homosexuality and cannot confirm the gene in the same way as red hair or blue eyes. But sure, cherry pick it. None of it is definitive. Sorry bud. Take the L.

They aren’t, and even if they were, Jesus said you must be born again, anyhow.

Take a look at the post immediately preceding yours.

You're new here.
If you stick around, you'll find yourself engaging in constitutional or criminal law threads with lawyers. Economic or financial threads with CPAs, business related threads with business owners. Folks who have some expertise regarding the topic may raise facts or concepts you were unaware of, or previously misunderstood.

Did you check out dopamine receptor heritability in relation to addiction yet?
If not, you should.

To summarize, if one twin is gay, the chances that the other twin will be gay is NOT 100%, but it is approximately 6-10 times MORE likely (depending upon which study you read) than if the first twin were straight ... even among identical twins separated at birth. And about 3-5 times more likely for fraternal twins.

Except they’re both invariably raised in the same environment.

:puzzledlook:

But you are correct that the correlation is greater for identical twins raised in the same household than for twins who have been separated after birth.

Oh sorry. Missed that in your post. I don’t think that study has been done.

The problem is that the sample sizes are so small.

Honestly, how many identical male twins GET separated at birth? A few hundred, MAYBE? Then divide that number by fifteen or twenty to get the number of twin sets separated at birth which include at least one gay twin.

You can DO the study, but you have to wonder about predictive value because the sample is so very, very small.

If homosexuals are “born that way”
I’ve always thought they MUST be born that way & can’t help it because I know I was born attracted to the opposite sex & there’s no way I would ever want to be sexual with the same sex. I don’t really know though-I just know in my case I couldn’t change even if it was “wrong”

I have to agree with born that way and not a choice.

Seriously, how can any male look at the pic above and say "Nope! I chose Bob or Fred."

99% of homosexuality is a social construct.

Correct. That's always my argument to people that say it's somehow related to how they were raised. My parents didn't raise me to be straight, 10 year old me looked at a Playboy and I got a stuffy. End of story.

It's an unsavory behavior, nothing more. It's basically in the same category as nose-picking or dipping Skoal. Are there genes that make one predisposed to it? I don't care, but if you're doing it, you should stop.
