Is this even legal? 100% tax?

It's not. It's an unconstitutional seizure of property and since money is fungible, the "just compensation" is the face value (even presuming due process exists).

Oh, and as this will be done "under color of law" it will give rise to a 1983 action, which will also afford damages and attorney's fees.

FYI, New York is proposing the same retardation.

I think that they're getting desperate. They see their gravy train is about to crash bigly. They're gonna siphon whatever money they can and distribute it to their cronies before the jig is up. They're gonna need the favor returned when everybody starts getting indictments.

Have you wondered why the DOJ did not offer to pay any damages to the other litigants who were damaged by the same breach...and filed suit within the statute of limitations? In those cases the DOJ argued the IRS can not be held liable for actions of an independent contractor.

Someone “wondering” would necessitate the ability for independent thought. That’s not a cult strong suit.

Gavin may tax Californians for that payment but I am very sure the payments will all go to noncitizens of California. Even the ones that are citizens for a day in DC, Maryland, Texas wherever they chose.

and he then sued his own administration for damages

You are being disingenuous and you know it. Lifelong civil servants don’t “belong“ to each incoming president. They may serve their agencies through several presidents. Trump rightfully sued a government employee who had wronged him. This isn’t that hard to understand.

You are completely ignorant, and you dont know it.

The Trump and the Trump Organization sued the IRS and the Treasury Department, not an individual.

The person who stole the data of thousands of wealthy individuals and provided it to the NY Times was an independent contractor and is currently in prison for his crimes. He was not a defendant in Trump's lawsuit.

Look, you didn't know all this, and that's fine. But dont try to throw insults at me when you are uninformed.

He was POTUS when it happened. He is POTUS now. He is in charge of the Treasury Dept., the IRS, and the DOJ representing them. There are serious conflicts issues here, and the Judge had asked for briefing on whether the court even had jurisdiction under this scenario.

You really should sit this one out.

I don't know how this passes the smell test for anyone, honestly.

If a Democratic POTUS did that, this site would have crashed.

He can't do that. If he did, he'd get sued and have to pay a lot more.

Listen you little socksucker, many people in the government were actively working against Trump in his first term and afterwards. Shove that “sit this one out” comment all the way up your backhole you dumb mother
