I don't think they will tell us anything. They REALLY want Perez gone, because he would be a material witness to the shooting.
Plus, despite DHS's assertion that Perez entered the US illegally, he entered legally under Biden's then legal (awful) CBP One program. According to his attorneys, he missed an immigration hearing because notice went to the wrong address.
From the perspective of DHS, all of this goes away when Perez is deported. Unless and until his lawyers file for a stay of removal, Perez could be deported at any time to Venezuela...a country whose leaders we own.
If his lawyers don't file for a stay, I expect Perez to be deported before the end of the week.

Of course, it wasn't minutes. It's now well over a day.
There have been 20 or so DHS shootings since 2025. 6 of them were fatal. Not one of those shootings has resulted in any extensive report from the Feds on what happened.
It's amusing that so many here think there will be some kind of DHS report on what "really happened." It's not going to happen.
Maybe it's a strategy: "we might just shoot any illegal...better deport now." I can respect that. Biden let in MILLIONS who shouldn't be here...including Perez.

There's a whole slew of addresses that they use. And almost none of them legit. And under Biden admin, none of them were held responsible for not showing up to their court hearings.
I dunno about immigration. But on probation and parole, changes of address not corrected or updated is a violation. The Internet says that it's a violation.
I dunno. The way the left is, I don't think this goes away quick. They may start clamoring for statues of him.

Etter wrote in the court documents that her client is not disputing the final removal order but wants a chance to apply for a U-visa, a type of immigration status for victims and witnesses of a crime. Etter also wrote that because the shooting is now being investigated as a potential crime, he has the right to apply for a U visa."

I didn't practice immigration law, but this seems like a doomed legal strategy. A court is unlikely to try to MAKE the Secretary of State issue a visa.
