DeSantis would likely not only win the General but the Popular vote. People like competent governance. Or you can look at polls more than a year out when folks are more concerned about who is going to win the SEC than who they will vote for in the Primary, much less the General.

If Trump is the nominee, DeSantis will endorse him, and then go back to Florida and continue to be one of the best governors in America, and then the only Trumpers will be whining that DeSantis is not doing enough to help Trump.

He's not in second. Not a single poll has him beating Desantis. The real clear politics average show DeSantis has double the support of Ramaswamy. Ramaswamy has no chance in 2024 or 2028.

Dude, your party has pushed (and been able to nominate) Bush, McCain, and Romney. It was disastrous. In 2016, AFTER THIS, your party thought it was appropriate to push ANOTHER frickING BUSH, for president.
Exactly what else do you need to see to understand that the Republican party doesn't want what you want?
From a practical standpoint, Desantis can't win the primary. I think 99% of honest people will admit that. If he somehow did win, he can't win the general. All of the analysis on independents is meaningless because he won't get a significant portion of Republican votes.
You want a Reagan landslide. That's not realistic.
