Armando’s in River Oaks Thurs night: LINK

Some stores still require masks but my experience here is that the table spacing is back to normal and masking is definitely in retreat.

"Wear your mask!"

"Wear yours!"

"I'm wearing mine a-hole!"

"That's right, do what you're told!"

I noticed most restaurants moved more tables in last fall

Cutting capacity had to be a killer for a while

In SC I’ve been thrown out of several places for not wearing a mask. I’ve been told “we don’t go by the governors rules, we go by our rules!”

I live in Houston and you are right they still expect you to wear mask in every business. I want to be polite and wear them because it is a private business but I feel like businesses are never going to end the the mask mandate because they are scared to get sued or torn apart by the woke crowd. I feel like we may need to stop being polite and stop following the rules even in private businesses if we ever want this madness to end.

I didn't think a restaurant could make money if the max they could seat was 50% of capacity, but most of the places I frequent seem to have made it so far...probably with significantly less employees.

Not by law though. Private businesses can enforce masks at their leisure

I was wondering the other day what the reaction would be if a private business said they do not allow masks in their business, since I think many places actually have laws making masks in public illegal. The accommodation to the insistent mask wearers would be to get patted down for weapons and they had to have their ID checked and a picture taken. In the name of safety of course.

Where? I was in Sandestin for spring break and it was a free-for-all. Some people chose to wear masks, but I didn't see anyone requiring it.

This is a massive part of it. Here in FL, DeSantis passed a bill recently that protects businesses from getting sued if someone gets the rona. That should go a long way towards getting private businesses to lift their mask mandates.

Makes me wonder how much a place like El Tiempo is losing out by not having people be able to stand around and drink while they wait

It's a good start, but won't be like it outta be in Mississippi until you Tiger fans are once again met with a sea of St. Andrews crosses when you walk into Vaught-Hemmingway in Oxford to play Ole Miss.
