There’s zero way the GOP-controlled senate will only call witnesses that dems want, while shooting down requests for witnesses reps want.

If there were to be witnesses, it would be reciprocal. You want Bolton, we want hunter. You want Parnas, we want joe.

Would dems in the senate want to potentially blow up the dem primary by allowing joe and hunter to testify? All for a trial that has an inevitable acquittal?

My guess is that the senate will fail to agree to witness reciprocity, and thus we get no witnesses

Most logical and objective conclusion.

I would be satisfied if this sham was expedited with no witnesses called.

Still, nothing would please me more than to see Eric the Whistleblower squirm under a barrage of questions he can't possibly answer.

Part of me wants to see witnesses. The Dems only have weak nobodies with feels and rumors. Reps can het Hunter, and Schiff and Wistleblower.

So frick yeah, call witnesses. Bolton ain't got doodly squat on Trump.

I'm concerned that suddenly Hunter could not be located.

IMHO most Constitutional Conservatives over-estimate the support that this ideology has within the Republican Party -- it's very little support. IMHO, most Republicans are uncomfy with Trump. Some of them would like Trump to lose in 2020. A few would like to see him removed.

The 2019 version of the Republican Party is not the Constitutional Conservative Party. It's not even a Conservative Party. It's a hideous mutation that masquerades as Conservative but is really for Globalist ideals when it comes to trade, foreign aid, US military as World Police, open borders and a secular society built on "Leftist lite" social evolution.

How can anyone have faith in such a monstrosity to save this Republic? I can't and I don't.

Both major political parties should disband. We'd be better off for it.

Trump 2020.

And after Trump serves his two terms, he should stay in the public eye as an advocate for my idea that we need to disband both major political parties.

I want to hear Slow Joe and his baw Hunter answer the allegations made by our outstanding POTUS. Trump says Joe did threaten to withhold US aid from Ukraine unless they fired their AG and let's hear Hunter explain how he landed that job with Burisma by submitting an online job application through Indeed.com.

I see it completely differently. I think the pressure will be too much not to have witnesses. I’ve said before that it won’t be a close vote to call witnesses. I think you’ll see at least 10 GOP senators vote for witnesses.

What will happen with the Democratic witnesses? I’m not sure. Biden has a long history in that body and was/is still well liked on both sides. I’ve got my doubts that enough will go for it. I’m fine Hunter testifying as he’s germane to this. Joe, I think, is a stretch.

I fail to see what would be causing mounting pressure for that. I may have missed some mention from other Senators, but as far as I know the only Republican who has specified a leaning toward witnesses is Collins.

Other than that, the noise is coming from the usual leftist suspects.

I suspect the dems just want a lengthy trial to try and slow down Trump's judge appointees and to keep Bernie and Warren from campaigning.I think they don't want a socialism vs capitalism election. They know they can;t win on that and they know he has no shot of being removed. And if the Senate has a quick acquittal, than another weak arse impeachment will happen before the election.

Mitch can quote Nancy (Paraphrasing she’s said this thing in many forms) saying that dems had a solid concrete evidence that the facts support and it stands on its own merit. That she didn’t need additional evidence for the impeachment.

The dems said they had a good enough case. I dont understand why now we need to hear from new witnesses and evidence they didn’t seek when making their impeachment charges because they had what they needed.

I dont see a reason for new witnesses if the senate is supposed to consider the articles of impeachment as serious as dems claim them to be.

Mitch can call for confirmation votes during the trial.

I’m fairly positive Romney has said he wants to hear from Bolton. I’d be surprised if Lamar Alexander doesn’t vote for it as he’s retiring. It’s one thing to vote to acquit Trump. It’s another to say no witnesses. The optics are horrible. I don’t believe a lot of these want that look.

In fact, what do they get for taking that bad look? Either the witnesses are a dud for the Dems in which case they can say we had an open trial and there is nothing there. The other option is the witnesses drop a bombshell and there is a move to remove which many on here and everywhere believe a lot of the GOP senators secretly want. Calling witnesses is a win win for them as I game it out.
