Outside of this forum, I admittedly try not to venture out too far into political discussions on the internet. This morning I saw an extremely hyperbolic titled video come across my YouTube feed in regards to the unintelligent and unfunny women (who is supposedly a comedian) that hosted the WH dinner last night. I made the mistake of reading the comments and I can’t even believe how much the liberal left has lost their minds. I knew it was bad, but it is down right scary. These people are totally insane.

I am at the point of having the opinion that the divide in this country cannot be fixed with discussion and compromise. Let's just pick a side have a all out civil war between the right and left.

You just articulated the reason I deactivated my social media accounts about a month ago.
I don’t even recall what exactly prompted it, but I’d had it.
It took some adjusting to at first, but now I don’t even miss ‘em.
I’ll probably go back eventually, but I’d be lyin’ if I said the air isn’t cleaner now.

We went on vacation to Colorado last year for 12 days and I barely looked at my phone the entire trip. It was like very refreshing.

"Doomed"...nope. Challenged...for sure. Would you have it any other way, DB...if you truly believe that perfection of the Human Spirit is the purpose for this whole scenario?

Real comprehension re Jesus' promise of "life, and life more abundantly"...consist of a greater awareness of life. It is our fault is we neglect to gain the awareness of the miracle of It (Self-Awareness, to whatever This is). Within that heightened awareness, one become more aware of ALL BOTH sides of the coin....infinite Evil...as well as infinite Love and Beauty.

Book it...with every breath...Jesus bore the burden of both the most ugly aspects of this - necessarily so - contradictory Universe. For those of us who seek to reach that level...we should not be naïve in believing that we can bear that awareness, minus assuming the kind of character strengths that will allow such vision.

I can well recall a quote from one of my earliest philosophical Reads (Book)....a "warrior"...lives with a "balance between terror and wonder". Of course, the 'warrior' that wrote those words...did not Jesus for backup. Not the say that Jesus, did not have that 'warrior's' back; but the guy didn't know it. I don't know. Don't need to. Doom only exist for those who believe in it.

Good luck.

The country is not as divided as people think. Not as divided as many politicians and the media have you believing.

One problem with social media is that it gives a very small, almost meaningless segment of the population a megaphone that makes them seem so much bigger than they really are. And it’s true for the right and left.

The overwhelming majority of people are somewhere in the middle and agree on more things than they disagree on.

I came to understand this when I lived in California for a couple of years. Being a more right leaning person from the south, I thought living in the west coast would be incredibly difficult with all the commies and hippies that supposedly live out there.

Nothing was further from the truth. True most people leaned a bit more left than I did, but there was no real animosity and because we were just normal people we got along great and many of those same people are now great friends.

Funny what happens when you turn off the TV or computer and actually go out and talk to people.

That’s coming brother, unfortunate but it’s to late to turn back. The left has gone way to far with there hate and vile and there real agenda exposed is going to get a LOT of people killed in this country. Stand by its coming

I smoke more than the average user, a lot more. All it has made me do was look at things in a different way.

I still lean to the right. Might be anecdotal, but so is your claim.

We lost this country on January 22, 1973. That was the day SCOTUS legalized murder via Roe v Wade. In terms of civility and constructive discourse with these 'insane' people, that went out the door on that date. What we're dealing with now is an diabolical ideology that denies the existence of moral absolutes, and professes that all truth is relative. Problem I see? These loonies operate within a sort of situational ethics. For them the end justifies the means. Truly a demonic, evil, and destructive mindset.

Once you accept it's okay (even moral) to kill babies through abortion (even late term abortions) and sell the tissue from the dismembered bodies for profit, I would argue the evil genie has been let out of the bottle. All that is left is for these people to gain absolute power. Then given the opportunity they would simply decide we (as in traditionalist, conservative thinkers) are not human because we don't accept their views and opinions.

Not the first time this has happened in the past. Hitler rationalized the mass killing of Jews simply because he declared they were not human.

We're living in extremely dangerous times.
