Well said. Esp with spring around the corner. This will likely fizzle.

I’d be much more concerned if it was gaining traction going in to November.

The problem is that people have squared off into their corners of "it's literally nothing" and "it's the end of the world" and their egos won't let them meet anywhere in the middle.

Instead what we've seen is the former group constantly moving goal posts (from "there are no US cases" to "there are no US deaths" to "there are only a couple of US cases" to "there are no cases in Louisiana" etc) while the latter group has been taking all the data completely out of context in order to publicly jerk off to their apocalypse porn.

It's more contagious than the flu but only very specific groups have any legitimate concern about dying from it. For everyone else it's just another cold or flu. So worry enough to take precautions but there's no reason to cancel going to do things unless you are in that small, vulnerable minority.

It's that simple.

I don't trust any that present the position that there is some sort of "board consensus" on anything here (there certainly isn't close to such with regard to this topic).

Most people aren't dismissing it.

The media is either hyping this much more than needed, or, they are hiding something from us.

We are a society that thinks we can control everything, and this is something that is outside of our current control, which leads to overreactions.

No... no it's not. And if you can prove me wrong with factual evidence, please feel free to do so.

There is a range of possible outcomes.

The media is absolutely assuming the worst in every possible way.

That is neither responsible nor "scientific".

and aside: Who is going to track where that $8B goes?

Oh for fricks sake.

Can I wait for 1 confirmed case to be noted in my state before I hold up on my room?

Does this general type of virus tend to fade with warmer weather?

Yes. It doesn’t spread as fast in warm temperatures. The heat destabilizes it on surfaces. You can still get it from close contact with infected people but it doesn’t stick around on fomites as long.

I think you might be underestimating. Public schools in my area are now closed. Me entire company is planning on work from home in the future. Not trying to create panic, but that is the reality around me.

So some places have been talking into panicking, good to know.

I want to work from home

I don't dismiss the flu or deny it exists, I dismiss and reject the doomsday predictions that the left wing and their media are putting out there for political purposes.

Progressive left ideology is more of a danger to our country than the coronavirus could ever dream of being. I'm much more concerned with them

My wife is also due in summer and nurse. She thinks you need to chill out.

I don't see anybody shrugging it off. I see everybody saying be emotionally grounded and telling the re-emergence of socialists back on the board gloating about deaths and using against Trump to screw off.
