I live in a lawless town.

We hit 130 homicides last year. We are already at 37 homicides this year. Our social justice mayor and his sister are literally destroying the police department. They ran off most senior command when they took office. SErgeants were promoted to deputy chiefs. New use of force guidelines bar the police from shooting at cars even if the officer is going to get run over. They must give a warning before they shoot. Chases are banned unless it involves one of six violent crimes.
A bunch of punks shut down the interstate a couple of months ago on a Friday night with their donuts. The Mayor defended it,, saying he would not allow the police to chase the wrongdoers.
We have a bar in the last halfway decent part of town that has had not one, not two, but three homicides in the last nine months. A councilman wants to shut it down. The Mayor defended the bar last week.
A police officer will get in trouble if he defends himself. One officer was held down by a thug while the thug's brother retrieved a AR-type pistol and began shooting at him. Thankfully he missed the officer. He got under cover, returned fire, and killed one of the assailants. The state LEO assn. gave him the Officer of the Year award. The Mayor's chief kept him on suspension with pay for over a year. When he finally returned, they stuck him at the impound lot.
Most police officers involved in shootings don't get to go back to work even if cleared by a grand jury or civil service. The result? They don't show for work or play it safe while on duty.
Meanwhile, the police have lost control of the streets. Packs of 4 wheelers cruise on city streets. Drag racing is common on city streets while the police do nothing.
It would be nice to see how bad the crime is but the Mayor removed the crime stats from the city website.
Jackson, MS is not a functioning city.

Damn shame what has become of my hometown. Was a great place to grow up in the 80s. Thank God my parents got out and moved to Madison.

Wasn't Dion Sanders car stolen the very first day he moved to Jackson?

And yet, somehow, white supremacy is the problem.

Get the frick out man. Move to one of the college towns, Tupelo, Corinth, or Southaven/Olive Branch/Hernando.
Stop giving them tax money to squander and steal.

I don't know if it's liberalism that's the problem.

I lived in Jackson from 69-78. The apartment complex I lived in west Jackson is a boarded up building now. Very nice back in the day. Moved out of state for a few years. When we came back in 82, moved to Madison County. Been here ever since. I worked in Jackson but spent very little non-work time there.

Guess what else. You’re firefighters are getting our asses handed to us and can’t even get supplies for the station. No running water at the stations for weeks. Trust me. We are just as tired.

How about a well placed warning shot? Like center mass?

I remember when Jackson was a nice and safe city. It wasn’t that long ago.

Why don't the cops just dissappear the mayor?
