Don't forget govt subsidies. That means our tax money is paying for EVs.

Lol, there is nothing about EV that excels over fossil fuels at this point and probably never as the sources it takes is in places that hates America, is costly to produce , does nothing to protect climate change but rather destroys it

Now compare the price of non-ethanol gas which is what you got in 1970. The shite we buy now is diluted with corn that the govmt subsidizes. We've also developed better, more effecient technology to refine oil and therefore, when you adjust for inflation, it should be getting cheaper.

Who ever told you that lied. In 1970’s gas was .25-.59 till the oil embargo bullshite that raised it immediately to 1.00. It stayed around that price till 1999-2000 time frame. Supply and demand coupled with lawsuits mostly from government

Do you know what 'adjusted for inflation' means?

It is.

It was $4.07 in 1938, adjusted for inflation.

Here's the price by month for 2020:

2020: 2.548 2.442 2.234 1.841 1.870 2.082 2.183 2.182 2.183 2.158 2.108 2.195

Only two months had prices below $2 during Trump's term, April and May of 2020.

Note the date at the bottom of the chart:

Is that really what we want?

Yes, that's low.

We’ve seen much lower just a few years ago. The idea that these talking points will work even as people have seen the opposite with their own eyes is impressively dumb.

You don't have a 50MW nuclear reactor at home, either.

$2.67 inflation-adjusted price is well-below the 100-year average.

2010-2023 gas prices:

LINK

Average price over that time frame: $3.08

Avg price during Trump presidency 2017-2020: $2.57

Avg price during Biden presidency 2021-2023 (carrying Sep2023$ fwd) : $3.64

Whoever is president doesn't affect oil prices. 2014 saw the collapse of the domestic energy industry due to domestic over production plus SA flooding market. 2020 saw prices crater again and further due to worldwide covid shutdown which benefits, in this exercise, the president presiding 2017-2020.

Yeah, when Trump shut down the economy, and oil futures went negative.

That's what it took in 2020 to get gas prices under $2.
