They want mindless robots that are unaware and faithful democrat votes but what they have constructed are Godless indifferent soulless monsters, intolerant brainwashed children that would turn in their parents to the political thought police if they strayed from the Democratic dogma.

Sanitariums were prevalent and I believe charity funded? I also believe there is a huge proliferation of guns in society. Who had anything with a “long” magazine around the house in the 60’s? Guns were tools on property back then. How many AR style weapons were commercially available then? Team Glock did not exist I believe? You’d have had a kid with a bolt action rifle or pump shotgun walking around the school. What is that 5-9 shots?

I don't believe they were. A lot of the process of deinstitutionalization had to do with state governments wanting to use federal money for these hospitals, which became expensive to run. There were other changes in popular culture too, from depictions in media like One Flew's Over the Cuckoo's Nest, and non-fiction, like The Three Christs at Ypsilanti, and some academic works like Being Sane in Insane Places that soured public perception of the public mental health system. What replaced those hospitals were generally community run organizations and mental health care centers.

Was gonna make that point. I know in the 70’s there was a definite anti psych sentiment and closure of all facilities. Possibly rightfully so. I’m sure many were horrendous.

Why is the total crime rate lower now than it was in 1967, despite an increase in population from 200 million to 320 million people?
Reductions to race don't stand up to scrutiny. When this country was extremely white, the homicide rate was still higher than most developed nations. The homicide rate since 2010 has been lower than it was in 1960, with the exception of 2016.

Those sanitariums did have their problems, and many of them were rightly closed. I'd argue that the community health centers were not equipped to take on the burden of mental health in this country, as many were still underfunded. Relying on such systems during the tremendous technological process that we've had, and the subsequent problems related to that progress, is equally as bad. I'm not suggesting opening up the sanitariums again though. There has to be another solution.
