I have never seen the board consensus so wrong on a topic as Syria

Let's take your arguments at face value "we should get out of Syria". I would agree over the long run that us having 1,000 troops in Syria to mostly prevent a larger scale conflict between Turkey and the Kurds is not ideal. But there's a huge difference between a strategic withdrawal, giving the Kurds time to prepare and negotiate with Assad and Russia, vs. what Trump has done. With one phone call he's given Turkey the green light to invade NE Syria, slaughtering many of the same troops who helped us defeat ISIS over the past five years. This vacuum could very well lead to the resurgence of ISIS. And if ISIS struck in Europe or America again, many of you would be arguing for a large scale conflict, then we're back to square one.

A much better strategy, if you accept the withdrawal thesis, would be to slowly and quietly withdrawal and let Turkey know that if they attacked the Kurds that we would support the Kurds with retaliatory airstrikes.

Assad and Russia have already offered to negotiate with the Kurds, the Kurds declined. Over a year ago btw

We never should have been there in the first place. Multi-sided Arab civil war with bad guys all around. Not worth even a single American life IMO.

Obama and the other globalists fricked this up because they wanted to oust Assad. After laying waste to the country and scattering refugees throughout Europe, Assad remains.

I would also be in favor a strategic withdrawal from Afghanistan at this point. But leaving in the dark of night suddenly only emboldens the enemy and makes the vacuum more vicious.

No thanks, I don't want to be in the Turkish army and participate in ethnic cleansing. The jihadis in their ranks would be looking to behead me in no time.

They offered, repeatedly.

When the Turks went into Afrin, Damascus gave the Kurds an offer. Give up independence, and we’ll defend you from the Turks.

The Kurds believed we would protect them. We didn’t. So they said no.

The Kurds have made the same damn mistake twice. Which leaves me less than sympathetic.

Now they have zero leverage, and they’re probably being offered the same deal as last time.

They should accept it.
