I tried to warn them that the fricking dog was crazy and mean, but people would try to buddy up to him anyway. He would let them pet him a little bit before he got them. Always the same thing.."see, he's a good dog, you just don't understand him", or " he senses fear in you, he's a good boy!". Then about that time he would get them and they would be cussing.
Afghanistan is kind of like that dog, and I hope they bite the hell out of China.

Well, they bit the Brits, the old Soviet Union, and now us.

Not many left for them to bite, really. Except China has the endless bodies to pour into Afghanistan, if it really wanted to.

I think it could become a quagmire for them too. You can't apply modern logic to a country with a primitive mindset.

Who will stop them?

At least we'll have expensive electric cars, which will have to be replaced every 5-6 years.

Know what isn't rare ? Oil.

Those minerals aren’t just used for electric vehicles.

China’s main advantage is they will make deals with anyone. They will arm the Taliban just like we did in the 70s except they will get those minerals back instead of a Soviet arse whipping.

China won't pussyfoot around worrying about public perception.

The Taliban have no sport other than fighting and killing their own people and all outsiders who try to bring them out of the dark ages

The world needs to recognize this and leave them alone

I don't think the Chi-coms are losing much sleep over the Taliban.

The chynese care very much about their world image. It is a point of philosophical ego. They will try to build a relationship with Afghanistan, just to prove how they can triumph, where other nations failed. The Afghans will play the hell out of them.

If we want to punish the Taliban/Al Qaida, all we have to do is begin a highly public media campaign to shame the Taliban re China's treatment of their Uighur Brethren. Of course, money talks, and the Taliban will cash in, for the prosperity of their theocratic (Islamist) hegemony.

Aside, Aug...I had a beautiful and noble Chow who did the same. But that very few opted to pet Booger, or even get in 'his space'. Booger knew what Love was; he just couldn't overrule his basic nature re impulses which negatively affected loving relationships. Hmm...guess we are all *Booger*, in a lot of instances.

Given the amount of advanced weaponry we are leaving there, it will be a cheap arms deal for China. It's very likely that the Taliban will be selling some of the technology to China.

China has no moral compass, so they will make whatever deal they think is necessary to get what they want.

They don't need to kill them. If anything they will help them.

That dog that I was talking about was a blue heeler. I called him Banjo, and the name fit him, because he was wound up tight as a watch spring from the day he was born. We developed a mutually beneficial relationship, but he was never a pet. People generally thought I had him trained pretty well, and that really wasn't the case, he just knew what I wanted to happen and agreed with it.

Yep, Aug...Heeler's are pretty independent natured. Very smart and intuitive. My Uncle - who ran a small Bar - had one that stayed in the bar room. Was great for a laugh when a new patron came in and sat by my Uncle and his "best friend" "Ding"...and my uncle would say to Ding that "I think he has a gun in his pocket, Ding". Ding's hair would go up and he'd show teeth while growling at the dumbfounded Patron. That happened a lot.

Uncle got in a wreck one day, and Ding wouldn't let the EMS extract Uncle from the car.

Helluva scene out here in the heart of America. Thank you Jesus.

Much more than we would! Those are some stone cold killers, they are the only group that I feel can hang over there because they speak the same language as the Afghans. Brutally!
