I mean…they are supposed to have three branches of government.

In Louisiana, the Governors typically dream of being the next Huey P Long running the entire state out of the Gov’s mansion. That typically hasn’t worked out in the best interest of citizens and taxpayers.

2 of the most politically powerful industries in your great state are developers and contractors (sometimes one and the same). These are the industries that are most at near term risk for negative financial consequences if they’re not able to use cheap illegal labor. This is who is stoking the uprising against Desantis.

My .02

There are a few things happening right now on this issue:

1. DeSantis is for all purposes now a lame duck
2. There is a power struggle starting in FL
3. Reps have supermajority so any veto can be overridden
4. Some are pissed about being directed by DeSantis
5. Some are pissed he ran against Trump
6. All are pissed about the special session
7. Special interest groups putting power into other hands (seen w agriculture getting power)

It will be interesting to see how this shakes out. I think this helps agriculture the most. And for what it is worth, we have a lot of individuals brought here to pick fruit and then visa expires and they stay - get DL and SS number (why I will never understand) and they just stay

Link?

Who was kent stermon, and why did his investigation, post suicide, get buried for over a year? Would hate to hear that's whose house desantis was staying in to first run for florida office, in a district he had 0 ties to.

Hell hath no fury greater than a legislator asked to actually do work.

Sugar is mostly mechanized now. And the cane cutters from back when I was a kid were Jamaican, anyway.

True, but growing up I played ball in Clewiston and Pahokee. They were 95% white or black.

Jamaicans can be illegal too.
