that's interesting. i'm a long time semi-follower of the Enron story and the folks involved. my hot take on it has always been that Fastow got off easy and Skilling got hit too hard (part of that is due to the fact that he adamantly refused to ever take any kind of deal and was so arrogant about it all). he's a guy that I'd love to randomly end up shooting the shite at a bar with.
Yea same. Even my old man lost money to those frickers. Similar to the one dude who got beaten to death in prison who had his office raided over in the Galleria. Forgot his name but his company would always call us asking to buy gold

Yep, that’s a good one. We had to watch it in audit class for accounting degree. I loved it and it also resonates with non accountants. Check out the book it’s based on.

Few years after they collapsed a new co worker was talking.. he was in mid 50’s .. he mentioned he worked for Enron.. I asked how did it end up when all done with the bankruptcy… I recall his 401 took a hit because they were all heavily weighted toward company stock( it was increasing a lot more than index funds etc so most had the money directed to Enron stock)…. To make it worse you could also just automatically use salary and take it in additional Enron stock. His wife was a doctor so they put much of his salary into Enron stock and lived off hers…
He took it in stride but said pretty much lost everything.

That’s what I was hoping it was. I’m currently reading a book version of the same subject. I will definitely be watching this.

It is excellent. Very entertaining with a lot of people who are involved directly. The theme and substance actually mirrors the Enron story

I work with a few people that worked at Enron when all this went down. They say that the company was all about stock price….as soon as you walked into the lobby it was everywhere…they were promoting it so employees would keep buying it…unfortunately when it went south there was nothing they could do…they were not allowed to sell it….one guy I think lost 75k and only got back like 5 or 10k. It was a bad situation and most of the employees had no idea what was going on. They started getting suspicious when the stock kept dropping and would not stop.

I just find it amusing that a LOT (almost ALL) of the employees knew the company was doing fricked up things... the Employees were a bunch of liars and snakes... the employees thought they were getting filthy rich.. the employees who contributed to the fraud (knowingly) ALL LOST EVERYTHING

that's a pretty ridiculous assertion

Might as well throw JP and their scams in the silver market into the mix. Steal billions on short manipulations and pay a $10 Million fine. There has been fine after fine after fine for over a decade. Along with trial after trial after trial.

lol wut? AA was busy doing that to themselves because they were being paid to overlook the fraud. Frick them. They knew exactly what they were doing.

Does it mention Pug Winokur and Dyncorp? Doubt it. The real shite is always covered up.

I know a lot of people who worked at Enron. They were all really smart. Also know Sharon Watkins - whistle blower.
My graduate school accounting prof predicted the failure long before it happened. He actually presented it one day in class - Exec MBA which included a few Enron folks in attendance. They tried to argue with him that he was wrong, but he gave them the floor and they could not refute one thing he said. He ended up testifying before Congress - Bala Dharan. Brilliant guy.
