I don't feel bad for them. If there's an issue and you can't solve it, minimize it. I don't like the education and poverty statistics in Louisiana. It's too late for me, but my children are in private school and I'm raising them and telling them to not put down roots in Louisiana as they grow up.

If you're having a difficult time having sympathy for fellow Americans there is a pretty simple reason why. It's because you're a shitty person.

Or perhaps God is saying, "enough is enough with these pedos and perverts."

He's taking out a modern day Sodom with fire .... is it really that difficult to believe?

He almost took out San Fran with a tidal wave a month ago.

frick commiefornia. Sue me. I'm sorry for the small percentage of good people that are there, hopefully they got out or their houses don't burn.

That place is cursed.

It's literally hell on earth.

Do you throw a fit whenever a hurricane or flood hits down here and people respond with "why the frick would anyone live in a flood plain"?

Call me a shitty person for not having sympathy for people that have had their houses burn to the ground multiple times due to where they chose to place them.

In a tinderbox.

Don't care.

This is the equivalent of saying that people shouldn't live in Lafayette because Hurricane Laura devastated Lake Charles.

You would think that CA —- with all its engineers and science geeks — could have a true “fire suppression system” in the surrounding valleys of L.A. — much like wind turbines, actually digitally linked water towers —- that receive the water from nearby lakes / rivers…

It could be stored in dozens of these towers and be activated by sensors when a fire begins. Then multiple water cannon could soak the areas, so that the fires can’t catch a foothold. This would give the fire teams and water planes time to truly finish off the blaze.

Hell, someone could even design “whole house water suppression systems”…just like nat gas whole house generators.

I don’t. Those people look down and laugh at us “rednecks living in hurricane country.” I wish them well.

You do realize this is spreading well beyond that right? A good portion of the Malibu homes on PCH were completely wiped out. People well away from where the fires originated also had their homes burned.

Apparently you don't realize I watched a Malibu resident, just tonight, crying about how this is the third time his house has burned to the ground in the last 30 years.

The third time.

Third.

Is it sinking in yet?

the hard question that must be asked is, do you think it's more likely that things will improve or continue to worsen

If you asked me this question a year ago I would’ve told you that I have real concerns about it getting worse. The last election unexpectedly gave me hope for the time. There has been a pushback on some of the progressive agenda that has done so much damage here. Hopefully that continues to build. A successful Trump presidency will play a big role in that. Voters want a change and we have an opportunity to provide them that. I have no illusions about California going red. But it doesn’t have to be deep blue as we’ve been for what feels like forever.

Your State puts a fish above it's citizens!

There’s a balance to be had with nature. The problem is that the environmental whackos (I miss Rush) took over and impacted everything. The Delta Smelt has negatively impacted the ag industry. They negatively impacted the logging industry and general forest management and everyone has seen the results after years of mismanagement. The Sierra Club is a threat and they’re nationwide. We have to be good stewards of the land to keep that balance which prevents greater catastrophes. But they take things way too far.

I don’t know if we can become The Golden State again but last November gave me a reason to be optimistic on a statewide scale. We’re in pretty solid shape locally.

Blame California politicians not the people . I use to live there in 80’s. There are more conservatives/ country/ farmers etc than even think outside of the big cities. They do not deserve this at all.

No one wants to make it political but you also cant ignore the blatant and obvious FAILURE of the California government, from the Governor’s mansion all the way to local fire departments.

What should they have done differently to prevent 100 mph winds and fire?

I’d say you can’t possibly be this stupid, but you just proved you can be.

When you know you have a potential problem, in this case wildfires, and you have a history of this happening you have two choices.

1 - look at ways to reduce the threat. Removing undergrowth by various methods. Putting in firebreaks, increasing water availability and firefighting capabilities. Just a few common sense solutions which are a fraction of the cost of doing nothing.

2 - Do nothing. Blame everyone and everything that has nothing to do with the problem when it bites them on the arse. Vote for people who scream the loudest they can fix it by punishing every (insert liberal moonbat cause that has nothing to do with the problem here), generally re-electing the same ones.

The people collectively in California consistently go with option 2. So while I can have sympathy for an individual, I’m just propping my feet up and eating another marshmallow enjoying the easily preventable misery for the collective.

This is the most easily predicted result of their policies ever. A true FAFO.
