She had plenty of help and the best she could do was a draw.

I think both of those points are entirely fair.

- I don’t think Trump is particularly good in debates. He wasn’t particularly good last night. He had some good moments, but had plenty of bad moments, too.

- Trump went on rants at times. Harris baited him into ranting on matters like his legal issues and the size of his rally crowds, and he took that bait. There was a point around the middle of the debate where he seemed to spend about 10 minutes ranting on something and you almost forgot Kamala was even there. That’s exactly what her side wanted.

- It also took him until about 3/4 of the way through the debate to finally ask her why she hasn’t done any of the stuff she says she will do as President while she has been Vice President for the last 3 1/2 years. I think he could’ve tied her to Biden and his policies even more.

- Harris didn’t say anything profound or particularly substantive. She was never held to the fire by the moderators, particularly about her recent position changes on key issues. She also acted condescending and smug with all of her facial expressions, snickering and grinning. All of that said, she avoided rambling on and communicated better than she typically does. She didn’t have a ton of word salad responses.

- Moderators were pathetic. Some of the questions/topics were clearly intended to put Trump in a corner and get him on the defensive. The moderators also “fact-checked” and challenged him in a way that they didn’t with Harris.
