Karens? O.k., sure.

The various traffic laws we have created do little more than allow cops to harass citizens and do background checks. First ballot "Karenism"

Now that I think about it, I don't see too many seatbelts on school buses either.

Or public buses or trains and 80% of your plane flight.

Government doesn't trust the individual unsupervised:

Whenever someone else is in control of your transportation, its all under control; whenever You're in control of your mobility, you're out of control and a danger to yourself and others.

I've talked to cop buddies at the gym about this. They admit seat belt laws are stupid. But they use them when they suspect a car is being driven by a drug dealer. They don't issue a ticket. If they don't find drugs they let him go and if they do find drugs they arrest him for that.

Correct. Its part of the whole "proactive policing" that has led to the widespread mistrust of law enforcement.

Why not require helmets when riding in cars?

Why not make motorcycles illegal?

I got pulled over 5 times within a year here in town. I asked a cop I know (He actually went to the same HS I did in Louisiana) and he told me the 4runner I had at the time was a match for a drug dealer.

So everytime they saw me, they pulled me over for some trumped up excuse.

Thats why we have seatbelt laws.

That's fair. I don't trust the government unsupervised either.

You can keep saying this, but I've already explained why that isn't so.

You've offered nothing to rebut it and nothing to substantiate your claim.

You just keep saying it over and over.

Because its opinion.

Everyone knows cops use ticky tacky violations as points of contacts, except you apparently.

It’s a small inconvenience that greatly protects people’s lives. No one thinks you’re cool because you refuse to wear your seatbelt or a helmet

Good then stay off of my insurance plan and don’t expect any free shite at the ER from my tax dollars. You’re on your own.

You’ve got a point there. Maybe wearing clothes should be optional too?

It makes no sense that a state that has a seatbelt mandate doesn't also have a motorcycle helmet mandate.

Actually the leading expert on the subject, many years ago testified to the Florida congress that over 25 mph no helmet offers protection against head injury and he has testified in many many civil lawsuits after that

You should have the right to not use them, but if you get severely injured in an accident, your damages should be mitigated because they would not have been as severe had you used a seat belt or helmet. When Mike Foster was governor of Louisiana, he signed a bill into law that did away with helmet mandates. He was also an avid motorcyclist.
