I don't know how the info got on the laptop, but the IC has said that GRU hacked Burisma in January and that they've gotten chatter that they were going to release emails in an October surprise. Go look up the Times story.

So the Russians gave this to a computer repair guy in DE so he could give this to Guiliani? Is that what you're suggesting?

it's theoretically possible. it's clearly on the table

but, anti-Trump intel and FBI contacts feeding bullshite to NYT is also on the table

we have a lot more data on the latter being more common than the former, lately

Almost everyone, including many on the left, thought twitter and fb fricked up badly with their actions yesterday.

You are defending them?

If it turns out to be disinfo, then you can think of removing the content. but you absolutely should not regulate content based on hunches that it is disinfo, especially when the campaign doesn't deny the emails are authentic.

So are we gonna do the "well, the information is 100% authentic, but it doesn't count because it wasn't released through the 'proper channels'" routine again?

No one has come out to claim anything released so far is fake. Not even the Biden surrogates.

provided by sources with legal access to it.

Does that give them legal authority to disseminate the confidential records?

Nope.

i just want to know what the rules are

by the NYT/tax return standard, NYP was better off saying they had "unnamed sources" feeding them information and that's more reliable than printed emails in their story.

so, that's cool

They haven't even denied the meeting with Biden and the Burisma executive.

It's incredible.

about the only thing i can think of is someone who was in litigation against Trump got his tax returns and somehow there wasn't a protective order or confidentiality agreement. with how anal Trump is about both, it seems unlikely

or maybe Cohen had some honeypot flash drive and he's selling it to the Times, and since he's disbarred he DGAF
