Really what’s happening here is some combination of two things. For some posters both:

1) most people only give a shite about the constitution when it’s convenient.

2) most people don’t actually know what’s in the constitution outside what they learned on a meme. If you bumped into them on the street they couldn’t tell you what the 8th amendment says to save their life.

The upvotes (which are still climbing) really make this much clear.

Most of these shooters dont survive the shooting, usually intentionally, so I don't think this would have any impact. These people usually expect to die going into it.

What we should be doing is not using their names and making as deliberate an effort as possible to not make them famous.

Is this generally where you fall?

"Unusual punishment" goes out the window if it's effective in reducing school shootings.

And since there's an "and" connecting unusual to cruel, I only need to address one of the two.

No I wouldn’t go that far.

But for the average poliboard poster I certainly would. The evidence keeps getting stronger.

I'd say that applies even more broadly...

Broad, yes. Agreed.

Either that or they’re just stupid (#2). Is that what you think is happening here?

In most cases they're killed at the scene of the crime. If they're deranged enough to commit this sort of crime, they usually aren't lucid enough to care about what happens to them.

Same reason we don't solve the 11,000 drunk driving deaths every year. If you knew you were facing a mandatory 2 month jail sentance for first offense and 2 years for second, things would change quickly.

DWI laws have nothing to do with public safety and everything to do with revenue generating.

Yes, that's sure to tamp down the mentally ill, attention-seeking, killers.

I'm probably not the right person to ask. In general, I think probably greater than 90% of the population is stupid, and that's probably generous.

How many school shootings has Russia or North Korea had?

Russia has had at least a dozen mass shootings in the last decade+

Obviously nowhere near as many as we have had, but worldwide Russia is number 2 as far as the frequency of mass shootings with civilian targets.

Lol cool man.

Just read the thread, it’s pretty black and white. There’s really no excuse to still be confused at this point. But if you really need your hand held, at least specify.

The left doesn't want solutions, solutions aren't politically or monetarily lucrative. Every crisis breeds fear & dependence & w/o those it's gone to waste.
