If you go back 50-60 years those demographic views on socialism wouldn't be much different. Young people are naive and emotional the same as they have always been. You don't think large numbers of young people were in to socialism in the 60's and 70's?

I don't remember any of the people I grew up with voicing their approval of socialism/communism. As a matter of fact socialism/communism was generally viewed as a threat to the US, particularly from the USSR and China. I guess there has been quasi socialism in the US since FDR and later LBJ implemented their social programs but what we're seeing today is outright socialists being elected to political office and many people believe this is the way forward. What many Americans fail to understand is the embracement of socialism/communism is the way to destroy a constitutional republic. Maybe they do understand?

The leverage of socialism in current form is to maintain status quo of protecting Boomer assets such as housing and AI which has crept into numerous 401K portfolios en masse. This is also the reason why a housing crash still hasn't happened (soft crash at least). While illegals absolutely don't help, boomer policies have pretty much insulated their asset nest egg at least until the majority of them die in the next 20 years.

Almost all policy made today has no care in the world about what happens in 20 years.

Let’s see how NYC does with their new commie mayor. Maybe that will wake some people up.

Dems will prop him up financially. As to the OP's comment, i often listen to old Hour of the Time episodes (Cooper) and think how crazy he would be today were he alive. He was thinking we were done 25 years ago but today makes that look like nothing.

The shift in the last 30 years is wild. I didn't get into politics much until this Donald Trump craziness.
He was a lifetime democrat. The things democrats were screaming from the roof tops in the 80s, 90s, even early 2000s is what trump is running on now.
The left is going so far left it really is killing this country. Soft immigration, health insurance, snap, ss. All these services that was supposed to help Americans is overwhelmed by illegals and lazy fricks. The they still want more tax money

I saw a poll a few days ago that showed 51% of Americans under age 40 had a favorable view of socialism

College level statistics will teach you that polls like these are driven by bias moreso than reality. If I received this poll, I’d laugh, not respond, and move on with my life. Most people who believe in socialism are losers and their main sense of value comes from their opinions, thus driving their engagement with polls like these and skewing the numbers

This goes beyond the question of how the poll is distributed. Chances are, it was distributed most in left wing areas and left wing websites

I'm 59.

I find it commendable that you're engaging with these snowflakes.

I wouldn't have the patience for it.

This is true. Gen Z men are largely “far right”.
Good times, weak men and shite like that.

They think they can have their cake and eat it too

Like the baby boomers

They now think they can continue with unsustainable spending and giving everything to everyone

The college education system was lost to the anti-Vietnam war movement. Fields of journalism, law, communications, education, psychology and all of the liberal arts got swept up by the left. Then over time they inherited most of the professions, media, courts and other sources of influence.

As long as those that take more from the govt than they give get a vote. And yes I am talking all the uber rich too, they take too.

The rest of us in the shrinking middle have less and less power. The cancer never stops eating, even though their host is wasting away

Then it's one of two things:

1. you're not paying attention
2. you have no issue with it collapsing.

Democrat politics and their lap dog Republicans have the proper power and reach within so many facets of our lives now to burn it all down.
