Our antiquated, ridiculous constitution protects so many things, there aren’t many places to cut outside of education and health care. And no political will to tackle closing and consolidating colleges and trimming bloated state agencies (esp DHH). It’s still on Governor Honor Code for stroking his pen on Day 1 to expand Medicaid knowing full well there was no money to pay for it.

so this is Edwards fault? This is the citizens of fault. We elect these jackasses and then scream about the party they belong to because somehow that makes a difference? Jindal was horrible, Edwards can't solve the budget crisis and just raises taxes. Our legislature just changed parties and continues to be horrible but we continue to elect the same politicians. Do you think Jeff Landry or liberal Democrat John Kennedy can do any better?

Find the breakdown in voter registration. That's the legislature's breakdown. They didn't put Edwards in office, the La. electorate did.

Jindal didn't cut out all the wasteful programs and he didn't lead for the future. He started strong, but left us for national glory.
Edwards took over and made no substantial cuts, he instituted Medicaid Expandion, and raised taxes to pay for it all.
Jindal should be criticized and justifiably so, but Edwards is doing the same things, but spending more and raising taxes.
Edwards obviously agreed with what Jindal did except for Medicaid Expansion.
But unlike Jindal, he has no issues with raising taxes.

Thats because people like my parents and grandparents and most of my friends parents and grandparents used to be and vote democrat 25+ years ago. Now they vote republican but never cared enough to change their party voting registration.
JBE won because he appealed to that group of blue dog democrats that are still here in South LA but are slowly dying off.

They need to rework the state constitution. Other departments should be subject to cuts besides healthcare and education. It's maddening.
