How long will it take for famine to devastate NYC?

Government run grocery stores are going to be a disaster. Lots of demand for little supply and no way to rationally allocate it without a market mechanism. Supermarkets and mom and pop stores are going to move out, and the city will have to manage and ration food production.

Anybody who tries to make an honest living will suffer, greatly.

Call to prayer will be heard by the end of his term.

NYPD will collapse for starters. Then it gets really exciting.

Dems can’t allow it to fail. They will prop it up and the news will block and tackle. It will be an unlivable shithole but will be covered up.

They already have a staffing crisis. Mamdani is just going to make it worse. First, they'll require mandatory overtime, which will only exacerbate the exodus. Then Mamdani will ensure that those spots get backfilled with Muslims regardless of their qualifications. Backdoor Sharia.

Will be an amazing social experiment to watch play out from afar, thankfully.
My thoughts:
1. Every biz that can will flee. Even lefty folks who are somewhat sympathetic to the cause will quietly exit. Or they will be taxed into poverty and be second-class citizens.
2. Free money/food/rent for everybody will draw in hordes of homeless people. They will quickly be overrun.
3. Will really suck for the rest of NYS. It's easy to pick on folks for living up there, given the long-term trends in the state's politics. But there are some fine rural people in mid- and upstate NY. Generational farming families and such. But for years, NYC's politics have driven the state's tax and regulatory policies, which wreak havoc on small town folks living hours away. Whatever that commie does in NYC will cast a big shadow in the rest of the state. Will be interesting to see how much they are willing to put up with.
4. What will NYPD do? Who on earth would want to be a cop under that regime?
5. Maybe the dumpster fire that ensues will innoculate some younger folks from the hopey-changey propaganda the commies use. Will be sobering to see what NYC degenerates into in real time.
Sad, but it's what they voted for.

How much foreign owned real estate in NYC?
Floors of apartments where no one live but being held as a store of value.
London is like this too.
How many loans out there with NYC real estate as the security?
How much commercial office sq-footage was abandoned during covid and still sitting vacant?
The collapse could be epic on this alone.

I started another thread asking about long term impact.
Honestly, I think the free subway rides is a pipe dream. I believe the state controls that. The government grocery stores will take so long to get up and running, and unless you have them on every block, people will still frequent bodegas and the like.
Those things…I think won’t really happen. I’m more concerned about his muslim influence throughout the administration.

As an Upstate New Yorker, quoted for truth. NYC politics, and the state capital in Albany, have fricked upstate forever.

Do you consider Buffalo to be Upstate or Western NY?
Posted on 11/5/25 at 8:51 pm to TexasTiger08
The only thing that's going to happen is it will be the most amazing clusterfrick ever seen so not the nightmare scenario we see as worst case. But the NYPD is about to take a nose dive in staffing and recruitment.
If you're in NYC after this year you're a moron. Or an illegal.

One thing is this dude is young and could be a pushover to big players in NY that have way more skin in the game than him.
Or I could see some union boss choke slamming him.

Sooo…more money will be needed to prop everything up.
Sadly, I hope it does turn into a shithole. Couldn’t happen to a better electorate.

NY will quickly become insolvent but empty store shelves are a decade away without assistance. That’s what it took in Venezuela.
Problem is the feds will bail them out under Dem administrations so it may never happen in dramatic fashion.

For sure. I don’t think that’s a result of socialism, just his being a tone deaf person and alienating the wrong crowd. The richest of the rich will flee to their summer homes and find a way to not pay into that shite, and others that are severely impacted will flee to the Southeast and Texas…which also sucks. The growth here is out of control.

Problem is NYC is the banking and finance hub of America.
Almost all money flowing in and out of the US touches NY.
Lol at this.
A huge win for the global marxists.
