I get where you are coming from but it doesn't say "to people". It says "to the people". These are different groups.
But even of you disagree that the founders intended for the protection of those rights to extend beyond citizens, the Supreme Court settled this in the 1800's so it's not debatable that it NOW extends to everyone, including illegal immigrants.
