He made the jump from Blue to Red during his long tenor as Louisiana State Treasurer. (I will say that he has remained bipartisan on a few issues during his sort time as a Senator)

You STILL have to google his name as "john Kennedy Louisiana".

His buddy, Dave Vitt, couldn't get the Governor's seat in our Red state.

Now, as of last week, Kennedy's political fate has been decided by LSU head football coach, Ed Orgeron.

Though, don't cut yourself short, John. You never gave up on your endeavor to become a US Senator, and you got it! You're quirky enough to hang around for a few more terms; just stop the sideways smirk.

And, don't forget to wear lip balm during the dry months.

You'll never get to that political pinnacle of Governorship in Louisiana, but you can set your sights on getting re-elected as many times as Mary Landrieu!

I'll agree with this, but sometimes he tries too damn hard. I feel like he relies on his own intellect maybe too much, and should ask his advisors a few more questions before coming out for or against something. The way he's done it a few times is just weird...his approach.

I litigated with John on some state school issues in the late80’s - early 90’s whenhe was executive counsel for Buddy Roemer. He was a nice guy and bright, but more devoted to the politics than the legal issues, it seemed to me. I guess he’s always had his “eyes on the prize” , whatever that may be at the time.

This is a really weird thread.

Is the OP a gigantic libtard or just a kennedy hater?

I would take being Senator living it up in DC for 6 years with another easy 6 on the way over Governor for 4-8 years of a state that has so many institutional problems.

I really don't have a problem with this.

If you feel like something is worth winning or attaining, leave nothing on the table.

I liked him as Treasurer and personally suggested to him about five years ago that he should run for governor. But since he was elected Senator he has put on this Senator Cornbread act that I find to be annoying as hell. He should go back to being the Vanderbilt, UVA educated policy wonk that he seems most comfortable being.

Then you don't know Louisiana politics. For nearly any Louisiana politician, the governor's seat is a pinnacle. The only exception would be the President of the USA of course. I think it has something to do with being the universal leader of Napoleonic law

The governorship of Louisiana is among the most powerful in the country. He or she controls more than just the agenda. The cost of living in BR is far below that of DC, as everyone knows.

I remember when he got on TV and called out EVERY pork barrel project in the State while he was State Treasurer. That was just fricking fun.

His buddy would be Governor of Louisiana today if he had learned to keep his pecker in his pants.

Vitter screwed us all.

Ok?

Louisiana Governor as of right now is a business as usual position.

Meaning that you're still Governor of a state that has so many problems that if you tried to fix even one of them, the special interests and career politicians will bring out the knives and pitchforks and come after you so hard.

Vitter had the most detailed policy platform ever out of any candidate in Louisiana history and everybody went after him hard.

While JBE had nothing but platitudes and virtually no policy platform, just jindal bashing and Vitter's hookers.

Vitter won reelection in 2010 when the scandal was much more fresh.

Where VItter fricked up was that he ran a lazy, completely incompetent and overconfident campaign that underestimated JBE's appeal to moderates and didn't appreciate the threat that he would pose in the runoff. Vitter let JBE sneak into the runoff without so much as airing one single ad spot or sending out even one mailer against him.

Vitter earned and deserved the loss because he assumed that it would be an easy win like his senate campaigns. He was mistaken.

But the scorched earth tactics from the RINO ankle biters in Dardenne and Angelle was also a significant factor and made sure Vitter had no chance. They riled up the moderate republicans and conservative democrats that usually vote GOP so bad that Vitter had no chance of winning them back in time for the runoff.

If Dardenne and Angelle was willing to go that far agains a front runner they had no hope of defeating, they better win as otherwise, they have no future in the Louisiana GOP and they absolutely don't today.

It's a shitty thread from someone looking to complain about something.

Like something so inconsequential over a politician not being tasteful enough for him.

Kennedy could beat JBE this year if he wanted the job.
