About the same as trying to share a city/country with retrogressives who voted for Latoya, and William Jefferson, and Jason Williams.
All of whom were under scrutiny by the authorities at the time of their elections.
It's way beyond the cynical stage now. It's now into the no hope phase.
It didn't take a Nostradamus to foresee a significant rise in crime with a Soros-funded D.A. who even campaigned proudly announcing his preference for leniency.
It's not like criminals don't watch the news, or tend to be oblivious to the word on the street.

How do you know they voted for her? During the pres election 2020, we saw democrat controlled voting stations completely kick out any poll watchers, and boarded up windows and locked doors. They continued to "count" votes while preventing the delegated rights of the people to oversee and enforce a neutral counting process. That entire city is Democrat run, and the last Repub mayor was 1931 according to wikipedia. They can do whatever they want in that city, with no oversight and get away with it. Who's going to tell on them?

Much as I think she's an idiot, it's easy to see how she got elected. You had two candidates: Lightfood and Toni Preckwinkle.
Preckwinkle was well-known to voters. She ran as a reform candidate for county board president in 2010 or something and replaced a total crook, Todd Stroeger. She then went full-swamp, becoming a poster child for crooked Cook County politics. It took all of a year for that change. People started calling her Toni Taxwinkle, etc...
When Lightfoot ran, she was the unknown and fairly apolitical choice opposing a known crook, and she won a lot of votes that way.
It's really very similar to the last Presidential election. Lots of people thought they wanted to get rid of mean tweets and that Trump didn't do enough about Covid, so they voted Biden. Turns out Biden and his cabinet could screw up anything they touch.
