And in such a rapid fashion?

I think it was slipping before but Prop 187 getting overturned was the end.

But what started it before then?

Rapid demographic change: Mexican immigration, Asians, Persians, etc

Republican Whites leaving for Texas, Arizona, and sunbelt areas

Influx of hippies and earth muffins from Pacific Northwest and New England

Go look at high school videos on YouTube from Cali in the 1980's and early 1990's. Then go check where they are and look up that area's demographics now. It's absolutely mind boggling.

This is why everyone that hates the march closer to socialism should be firmly against any amnesty.

Why aren’t Asians and Persians voting for the GOP?

I was there in early 90's and influx from cities in NE and MW overran the conservatives/libertarians. Total PC culture with those who migrated. It was changing politically while I was there.

honestly, i don't know.... seems like when i visited in 2016, EVERYONE i met while there were huge Trump supporters...

i sorta had to laugh at it, really, because here I am, a dude from the Deep South, traditionally very conservative in their political leanings, and I was the most socially liberal person in the crowd of people I was around, in a place typically labeled ultra-liberal... it was sorta weird, but i can understand some of the reasoning for their support, i suppose...

Then they would have no bearing on elections.

You aren’t very smart.

Being Bible Thumpers (and in some instances xenophic) in a state that's more tolerant of others.

Also, many of their Gubernatorial candidates are lackluster. Neel Kashkari did decent considering most folks didn't know who that bald headed guy was and the ones who did were turned off by his role in TARP. I say a guy like Rand Paul, Gary Johnson, or Drew Carey-type can win in Cali.

Speaking of teachers, did conservatives support Jaime Esclante when he was being persecuted by teacher union? For those who don't know, he was the hero in "Stand and Deliver", a movie about a tough Hispanic (and immigrant) teacher who taught a rag tag group of Hispanic students calculus (and succeeded).
