This is such a simple minded and naive view.
You don't have to be an elected official or cabinet member to have the President's ear and guide his thinking. You could be his Chief of Staff, his biggest donor, his campaign manager, one of the fox news hosts, his chief of staff or his daughter of all people.
Ivanka was making the President get all soft and mushy as hell over gun control until tonight. She was talking to senators on the hill about it with a green light from POTUS.

Yep. Most posters will turn a blind eye to anything related to Trump. They can't (or just refuse) to discern ridicule from objective criticism.
