Averages are pretty meaningless. Medians would give a better indicator, but I question the memes date entirely when it says the average savings will be 0. That would imply nobody has any savings in entire US.

Yup

Cell phone is probably a necessity nowadays, and internet, but there are certainly cheaper options out there for those. Heck you can still get basic channels for free with an antenna.
My parents typical long distance bill (millineals don’t even know what that is) was more than my current cell plan that includes unlimited data.

By selling, and then what? Buy the same house for $100k more than you paid a few years ago?
If this is the best you can up with it’s not surprising you’re not making any financial headway. “Boomers” and housing prices aren’t your problem.

Because we need a place to live and everything in our price range in 2019 would be out of our price range in 2023. That 100k wouldn’t last long after a down payment and then financing the rest at 7%.
What were “we” doing for four years?

My generation had roomates and/or lived in mobile homes until they could afford something nicer.

Zoomers and millennials have no coping skills and see themselves as perpetual victims.

Sure.

Maybe at Edward Jones in a strip mall.

My youngest bought a house in Fort Worth and sold it for 100k profit in less than a year.

I always assume people who claim they cannot find housing are Type A anal retentives who have a very strict list of requirements.

We bought our house in 2019 for $200k. Same exact house in our neighborhood now is $300k. Same floor plan and finishings. But y’all keep pretending that this is normal and you had it harder.

Wait the frick up. You've showered this thread with f'n tears about housing and you recently bought a home for $200K? What the frick is wrong with you? The shitty starter home I bought in 1988 with linoleum floors, formica countertops, basically the cheapest of everything at the time and a doorbell that only went "ding" - cost $240K in 2019 dollars, and we bought significantly below the median. The 30-yr fixed rate was 10.5% back then.

And this is a good illustration of what everyone that understands a little economics has been trying to explain to you. Housing is cyclical. Right now is a tough time for buyers, but ten years ago it was a great time. You are not so special that you shouldn't have to deal with the real estate cycles everyone else does.

It should embarrass you, even on an anonymous message board, that you are so dumb and soft.

It has been quite entertaining watching David spank the little kids. Absolutely brutal.

Y’all made it about me when that was never my intention. I’m only talking about how hard it is for young people to buy now. Some of you still can’t grasp that. My example of my own home was to show how prices have skyrocketed for the same house.

I do find it strange that so many of you in this thread love Bidenomics. I hate it personally.

You shouldn’t. Entry level vehicles and decent used vehicles are a real thing. When starting out you need to get from A to B not impress your mates.

And young folks need to learn to live within their means. A small apartment until they are ready for home ownership is not a bad thing.

Why do you need to make shite up to make sense of your emotions/argument?

Not a single person in this thread doesn't understand that if you're young/starting out, it's a tougher time than typical to buy a home and you might have to wait a few years. What you're not understanding is this is normal, and the "boomers had it so easy" is utter bullshite.

So? Do you think it's the only time in history housing has skyrocketed?
